I'm just the messenger so don't hold me responsible for anything that happens to your device when installing modifications. Thanks to dev
jakeday for all his work! (I'm sure he would appreciate a donation and that link on his name should take you there) I run this ROM on my Galaxy Nexus and it's been running smooth since day 1. I will update this post as much as I can, but the link takes you to the Rootzwiki thread which the dev keeps updated himself.
IMPORTANT EDIT: When coming from 4.1, make sure you have the correct GAPPs downloaded (jakeday's GAPPs). Otherwise your setup wizard will crash. Also, TWRP could not find my previous backups due to the filesystem structure changes in 4.2 in support of multiple users.
Your backups will not be found by TWRP once a 4.2 ROM is flashed if coming from 4.1. Because of this, I would suggest having a backup ROM and GAPPs package in the downloads folder that you can flash. The downloads folder is apparently unaffected by the file system change and can still be access and flashed from. If anyone has any more useful information on these problems, please post and let us know.
READ BEFORE FLASHING (Wi-fi version ONLY at this point in time)
- Flash at
YOUR own risk
- Ask questions if you're unsure of ANYTHING
- Make a nandroid of your ROM, and
backup your sdcard to your PC.
- Please read everything including links thoroughly to avoid confusion.
- Have fun!
Instructions: I always do a complete wipe and make 100% sure I have a fairly recent backup to fall back on should something go wrong. I rarely run into issues that way and when I do, I always have a backup. Follow the link to the ROM and see what the developer recommends if you feel like trying the bare minimum. A full wipe in CWM/TWRP is wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, format system, and wipe dalvik cache. I also do this before restoring a backup. The first boot can take up to 10 minutes, so don't panic right away if you get stuck there. If you do get stuck, there is a way you can disconnect the battery leads, but that's totally on you and your electronic skills if you decide to go that route to do a "battery pull."
It appears the Nexus 7 thread has disappeared but the Galaxy Nexus (Toro) thread is still around. Find it
HERE for more info and links than what is contained in this thread.
