Default How do I remove gmail account from tablet.

I now have the nexus 7 set up with gmail and my own email acccount. I want to try to sell my other tablet but I can't get rid of the gmail account. Every time I click on it it finds my other nexus account and downloads my emails again. I clicked on it in the app section and I could only uninstall updates, whatever that means so I did that but its still there.
I did do a factory reset but the gmail account came back again.
Anyone help please.

You might try this. First go to your gmail account on a pc and change your password. Then on the N7 go to Settings > Google (under Accounts) > touch the gmail account > Menu (3 vertical dots upper right) > Remove account. Even though it will want you to sign in again, it can't since the saved password is incorrect.

Did the tablet ask you to log in after you did the factory reset?

Your account is there at mail.google.com. Just go there on your pc browser, sign in, click the gear wheel on the upper right, settings, accounts and import tab, change password is the first option.

Go to settings: accounts: Google
Here select your account then tap the setting dots top right and remove account. On the same screen you also have he option to unsync Gmail or other Google services, which should prevent them from fetching your data automatically.

If you remove the account from the device you want to sell, it'll just be gone from that one. Completely removing a Google account from existence probably takes some sort of master degree in computer science

In addition you could also change your Google password at any time from any browser, should you feel insecure about the other method for some reason.

there was no sarcasm... If you change your password via the website it will log you out on both devices. You would just need to reenter the new password on your nexus. That emoticon was meant to be playful not disrespectful

Ok I misunderstood. I'm new at all this also I'm in my 70s. I shouldn't use that as an excuse though as I don't feel in my dotage yet! So thank you as well and sorry

Go to security settings on the one you want to sell and do a factory reset. That will remove all your apps and account information and return it to the way it was when you took it out of the box. The when you sell it the new owner will either sign in with their Gmail account or create a new if they don't already have one. Yours will no longer be on that device. That's the easiest way.

The Gmail account came back because you went through the setup again after the factory reset. Just so the reset and then shut it down. Don't do the setup again.

Very simple. Go to settings, scroll down to the accounts section. Tap Google. Tap your gmail account so the Sync screen appears. Tap the three little dots in the upper right hand side and choose Remove Account. Done.
