it's pretty annoying that the screen comes on when i adjust the volume, mostly because i have a 30 minute screen timeout, so if i don't manually turn off the screen immediately, it'll stay on for the entire duration. even when i have my magnetic case closed, the screen will force on if i toggle the volume.

any ideas on how to disable this?

When playing something in Google Music, if my screen is off adjusting the volume up or down does not turn on my screen. You could certainly press the power button to turn off the screen after adjusting the volume. You may have a faulty case if the screen does not turn off when closing it. What app are you in that turns on the screen when adjusting volume?

Also, why a 30 Min screen timeout? A minute tops should be all you need?
