Default .com button on the keyboard

I just downloaded the leaked Gingerbread keyboard and I was comparing it, not only to the Froyo keyboard, but also to the iPhone's keyboard. This got me thinking about something. If I remember right, there used to be a ".com" button on the Nexus One keyboard when I first bought my phone. I believe it was the Froyo update that eliminated it. It really only takes me a second to type the extra characters manually but the .com button was a nice little shortcut. Anyone else miss it besides me?

I vaguely remember it O.o but I used 3rd party keyboards so never missed it.

It still shows up but it depends on what type of input field you've entered. I've seen that the keyboard changes keys dependent on that.

I've seen the layout change numerous times (the @ appearing left of the space bar in email fields etc), but not noticed the .com button coming back
