Yeah, I just noticed that too. Doesn't look very informative.
It won't let me log in, anyway.

Seems odd. Almost like an old version of the site. It says "your @google.com mail" but as far as I know google doesn't give out @google.com accounts.

Also worth mentioning, the site redirects and mentions nothing about a phone.

You guys did one thing wrong. You have to add "support" to the end of that.

It's Live!! Nexus One Phone - Meet the new Nexus One.

Yeah, it seems the site is pretty much useless to the unprivileged like me. All videos are private and most of the links seem to require you to login or something. Oh well...more should come tomorrow.

anyone else happen to notice that if you click activate phone it would bring you to a page that said something along the lines of "could not find nexus one to activate, if you are upgrading from a current phone please take your T-Mobile sim card out and insert it in your nexus one". thats a bummer, seems as if the rumors are true about a version sporting at&t's 3g freq, chances are it wont be out for some time....google is really trying to tie the knot with t-mobile it seems

The rumor mills are very accurate nowadays. Even companies like Apple who is well known for their secrecy has been exposed before their presentations like WWDC

Yeah, I saw that too. It just pretty much confirms what's been said all along. Most likely the rumored AT&T version will come a little later. I'm with Verizon, so my wait may be even longer. I'm holding onto hope that the rumored Passion/Incredible/Bravo comes soon.

seems stupid to sell an "unlocked" phone with such limited freq. if google were smart they would make gsm version supporting more freq as well as make a cdma version, wouldnt it make sense to cater to a larger population rather than limit the phone to t-mobile users or the few others around the world that use the same freq as t-mobile.

Were you expecting that Google exerted some sort of authority and was going to release something AT&T capable without FCC approval? It shouldn't surprise anyone that this is a T-Mobile only (3G) phone. Hope is that they actually specify tomorrow that there are plans for other carriers, otherwise this will likely only ever exist as a T-Mobile 3G device.

FYI the Nexus One supports UMTS Band 1,4, and 8 which is basically covering the whole Europe/Asia and T-Mobile and 2 other providers in American continent. It's just AT&T customer and Latin American customers who are getting shafted.

CDMA is different game and it will usually resulted in a totally different device altogether rather than putting GSM and CDMA band alongside each other

Agree 100% but this is Google. Good luck figuring out what exactly they were thinking with this "project".

you do realize they don't have to release any information to the public about something thats submitted to the fcc, right?

but you are right, we would have seen it go through the fcc. doesn't mean it should be completely ruled out

That AT&T rumor is just a ONE LINE in boygeniusreport website whereas the
a. price
b. Number of device can be purchased
c. T-Mobile
d. Terms of Sale
e. Checkout slideshow

are all substantive rumors with screenshot and "reliable insider" reports.

It was just like that Front Camera rumors before WWDC and Apple releases 3GS which has a better rumors built around it

Again, rumors without screenshot is probably more of a white noise or wishful thinking at this moment

I get the world compatibility with 900/1220, but which two other providers in America are you referring to? As far as I know, Canadian GSM uses 850/1900. The only other carrier in the world using T-Mobile USA's 1700MHz spectrum is Wind in Canada. That would basically make the N1 useless in the Western hemisphere (for 3G) unless you're with one of the two aforementioned carriers.

Tmobile is trying to move towards people paying full price for their phone and signing up for month to month so it seems Google is just helping them out. The best rate plans entice you to not get a subsidized phone.

Eh true but if the t-mobile rumors is substantiated by FCC filings as well
HTC Nexus One blessed by the FCC (updated) -- Engadget

Anyhow, i think it's all but confirmed now that AT&T version is just a wishful thinking for the moment so

So people of Europe/Asia/Oceania/T-Mobile rejoice

They can request confidentiality about the details of the phone (like pictures) but the raw report details are of public record upon FCC approval. That cannot be deliberately hidden. The FCC id on the phone has to be searchable in the FCC's database.

at&t version will be released at a later date, but there will be no subsidy from at&t. You'll have to pay the full $530 and stick in your SIM card. CDMA version will be a whole other version that'll likely take longer to come out.

yup. but you're making it out as if because you can't find it now, there never will be an att version, or that they couldn't announce one tomorrow

One interesting bit from the "Terms of Sale" is that if you're going to buy the phone online from Google, you're going to need to use Google Checkout. If you plan to buy and don't have an account, set one up ASAP. (I think you needed Google Checkout to buy on the Android Market.)

OT
Ive been under the impression it is the carrier who pressures the handset makes to decide what freq to put in take out of the phone.
It supposedly requires very little whatsoever to support both 3G bands.

The Nexus One is simply a follow-up to the Dev Phone 1 and Ion which were both developer devices. It only makes since to create a unlocked device for developers to use that has next-gen hardware instead of the old school stuff inside the G1 and mt3g. Since the first two were on T-Mobile it makes since that devs shouldn't have to switch just to get the latest development hardware. The Dev Phone 1 was also sold directly through Google with T-Mobile supporting it.

This page is up.... http://www.google.com/support/android/
Clicking on the Nexus one logo suggests there will be a google.com/android...
More than one "Google Phone" maybe?

More than one "Google Phone" maybe?
Nexus One logo disappeared, maybe some behind the scenes work before bringing it on line?

There were 4-8 videos on this youtube channel: YouTube - googlenexusone

That video I posted was one of them, it was a 3d demo of flying through a tunnel.

Interesting that the channel was up since December 23rd but private except for those couple of minutes we all saw it for.

If you go there now, there are still 2 videos up from the channel but they have 0 views and you won't change that.

You can also find the videos by looking up the numbers 2774697 on youtube.
