I think all of us Sprint customers will be able to prove how much better sprint is once the Nexus One comes out and the 3G connection speed is twice as fast as the Nexus One 3G speed on T-Mobile. As far as the JD Powers award that T-mobile won it was for customer service not for their crappy network!! I live in Phoenix, AZ and Sprint service is probably second to Verizon but the 3G service is definitely more reliable.. and I am saying this even though I am also an iPhone user. I have an iPhone and a Sprint phone that I use for talking because of the 450 any mobile plan with unlimited text, and data which is a lot cheaper than what I pay for the iphone plan. The N1 or SS on sprint may be the reason I eventually say goodbye to my 3GS..
sorry to here all yall that hate sprint but here in the hampton roads area, tmobile don't even work in the streets some times and everyone i know on the east coast has sprint or verizon (60/40 split)and don't ever hear any complaints. I drop maybe 1 call a month but then i tested the bold 2, i drop 2 or 3 calls a day. Don't know how people except that. AT&T don't work most places 3g so i gave back my bold 2 and stayed with sprint. now with the n1 and the supersonic coming, i can actually get a pretty good phone without having to switch.
Yes, with your discount. Without a discount you would be paying alot more than $4 more.
$69.99+TAXES would probably come out to around $82 or so possibly more. You are twisting the facts around.
As far as free mobile to mobile calling..I don't even use the talk feature that much to warrant a $10 increase in my bill.
no its 75 whatever WITHOUT the discount READ before you type, you really think i pay a $30 tax... your nuts... it's $4 difference WITH NO DISCOUNT and MORE features that MOST PEOPLE who own a cell phone use... such as idk.. CALLING
and yea the typo was my bad but use your head... $30 tax would be nuts

How is $69.99 the same price as $59.99? Its cheaper for you because you are getting a discount.
For someone that can't get a discount they would be paying more with Sprint than with T Mobile. Why is this so hard to understand?
The only "extra" feature you get with the closet Sprint plan to T Mobiles $59.99/month plan is Sprints $69.99 plan is free any mobile to mobile calling, which is under Sprints "Everything Data" plan but also comes with 50 less anytime minutes than T Mobiles plan.
Anybody can sign up for Sprint Everything Plus referral plan.
For $59.99, you get 500 minutes, Any mobile any time, unlimited data, unlimited text, night at 7pm etc.. with subsidy. So yes, Sprint is the better deal.
I have 5 phones on Sprint with every single add on a wireless company has to offer, ie; GPS turn by turn, radio, TV, NFL, Nascar, unlimited text, unlimited data, 1500 anytime minutes shared, free nights and weekends after 7pm, unlimited mobile to mobile no matter what network, unlimited data and email, have I missed something? Great service in the Cincinnati area and anywhere else I've been from here to Florida and/or California. Oh, also I'm paying with tax and all fees around $190/month. You can't touch that with any other service provider period. Sprint IS where it's at. Oh, BTW with the unlimited mobile to mobile ANY NETWORK, I use between 5 phones about 300 minutes per month total since I don't pay to call you on verizon, tmo, or att. Give me your number, we'll chat awhile! LOL
And you T-Mob users, that basic package misses the boat on a few things that sprints has....
GPS
Over 150 Streaming Music Channels
Formerly NFL - Now ESPN LIVE (STREAMING THE NCAA TOURNEY right now)
Exchange support - Outlook, Lotus Notes syncing
SPRINT TV - speaks for itself
All Unlimited......
common sense says thats alot for the same price you guys pay and get considerably less value.
This whole debate is absurd. If your phone and your coverage and your plan all work well for you, then great. If you have a bargain to share, please do, maybe we can all benefit. But this whole 'Mine is better than yours therefore yours is garbage' mantra is dumb. Every post that attempts to declare winners and losers in some nonexistent, useless, misguided competition only serves to make them all look more and more ridiculous as they drag on. Why not just whip 'em out and measure and be done with it.
They're cell phones. Depending on any number of subjective factors, some might work better for one person than another, so we have a market full of options and choices to satisfy different needs or preferences. But in the end, they're just cell phones.
The N1 moving into new markets is good for all of us as consumers, because it opens up more choices for each of us. Isn't that more important?

If you live in an area with good Sprint coverage, then Sprint gives the best bang for the buck. I'm in the NYC area and have no complaints.
A little bummed about the announcement since I just got the Hero 2 months ago... not going to be able to switch over, unless I pay full price (not gonna happen).... but on the bright side, there should be something better in 2 years AND possibly 4G!!!!
Device(s): SGS2E4GT aka Thats a mouthful...Thats what she said!

well all i kno is i got my hero in november and i will switch to the nexus one when it arrives. i love my hero but im ready for an upgrade to 2.1 and more screen real estate. im happy.
Being new to the forum here don't judge me to harshly. I own a palm Pre, but as of late I've ben thinking about jumping over to the Android side. The N1 coming over to Sprint is good news, but I'm thinking... do I want to wait for the super sonic?
I have a quesiton for you guys and maybe you can further elaborate on why Android is the way to go. I have a gmail account, have had one for years. I was told that as long as I have a gmail account, I can trasfer purchases from one phone to the next via downloading the app again from the store.
If this is true... then this flexability would be a heavy hitter for anyone considering a move. All the apps I have on my Pre are dead once I move onto another OS..... Let me know guys, thanks!
as long as your move is android to android, you sign in to you phone to set it up using your gmail account, it is like your thumb print on that phone, when you get a new android phone, sign in using the same gmail and BOOM, that phone is now yours, you can sync all your contacts to that phone through google and the apps are purchased to your gmail account, NOT the phone, so it is phone independant, as long as you use the same gmail, you can bring all your stuff with you to whatever phone you use

While I completely agree with everything said here, I still find it faster and more convenient to backup and restore my apps to and from an SD card. If you root and use Titanium backup, you can also save and restore protected apps, do them all at once in batch form, and retain all your data as well.
The Nexus One will succeed on it's own and not because of a dying cellular provider like Sprint. If anything The N1 is going to help Sprint from sinking deeper than it already has.

Couldn't you use Astro file manager to back up apps to the SD card? I've done and works fine.... unless Titanium backup does something more?

Astro does backup and restore, but it won't backup protected apps. It backs up just the app, not the user data. If you have it restore multiple apps at once, you still have follow it through each process and hit 2 or 3 'ok' dialogs for each and every app you want to restore.
Titanium backs up user data as well, plus it backs up and restores in batch scenarios, ie backup all apps, open apps, close all open apps and backup everything, rebackup updated apps, etc. Titanium only works on rooted phones. There's a basic free version, but the power features are in a paid version for around $4.

Sorry to tell ya, but the N1 won't even be an afterthought for Sprint thanks to this SUPERPHONE. Whats the point in even considering an N1 when this is at your disposal.
I was just gonna say... the Nexus news on Sprint is now ZZZzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzz with the unveiling of the EVO 4G... although, still not thrilled of having a carrier load up this chit on a phone (they're loading up some Nacrap app on the EVO 4G - laaaame).
At least the Nexus will give Sprint customers a pure Android device without Sense and bloatware from the carrier... and assuming a contract free/non-subsidized price...

something brewing for March 31st - a big "meeting" for the Sprint employees... I'm thinking since the EVO 4G is slated for summer... could be the Nexus One announcement... it would totally blow the wind out of VZW's Nexus announcement... lol

where did you get the info that something is brewing for March 31st for sprint in the first place.

I figured as much.... However I don't see myself rooting the phone so I'll forgo that experiance and rejoice in the fact that Android seems to be the OS of choice when dealing with cell phone of the future. Thanks again for your replies.
Awesome news. Now I just hope it comes out some time in April or early May.I'm going to be getting a new contract then and I'm looking at getting an Incredible with Verizon or a N1 w/ Sprint--assuming they're both out by then. I'd really like the Evo, but I'm pretty sure it won't be out by then. Do you think I'd be able to get the phone through google and then add a line to the plan? And then change the plan to the Employee Referral program?

I was originally gonna do that. Im on T-mobile right now, and have a shared line with 3 other friends and me. When I clicked on googles site to upgrade my phone to go with the Nexus, it said I wasnt eligible because I'm on the family plan. So I was gonna terminate my lines, and therefor not be a "current" t-mobile customer anymore, then log onto google and sign up for that plan so i can get the subsidiized discount price, then once the phone came in the mail, go to a t-mo store and add my buddies back onto my line again, but im not sure if that would work. I wouldn't see why not though cuz i originally had an individual plan 3 years ago, and added my friends on to make the price cheaper
1. Is this phone ever going to release on Sprint / Verizon? Good lord, wait any longer and it's going to be old news before it gets here! Oh wait... I really want this over the Evo, because it's simply the best Android experience, in my opinion. You get immediate updates from Google, gorgeous screen...
2. I really hope that the Sprint phone isn't delayed after the Verizon release. If these phones really have no carrier modifications (settings, crippled features and bloatware), then the Verizon phone should be a twin of the Sprint one, minus very minor features such as voicemail and carrier settings.
As for Sprint being crap, I have had all of the carriers between Austin and Dallas, and can safely say that Verizon and Sprint give the absolute best performance, by a landslide.
RELEASE ALREADY!

ya I can't wait any longer for this phone to release on sprint. I say if it not out or at least announced by the end of next week I"m ordering the T-Mobile one.
Long before the Nexus One launched, the media was filled with speculation, buzz, rumors, and excitement regarding the possibility of a "Google Phone". The rumors were put to rest when Google announced the Nexus One, the first ever Google ... Read More
