Default No backlight on buttons

I was looking at the Nexus S 4G the other day, and asked the sales guy why the buttons weren't lighting up. He said someone must have played with the configuration and turned it off. I was back in looking today, and spoke with a woman who bought one last week. She said there is no backlight on the buttons.

Is that really the case? They're awfully hard to see without any backlight.

do you mean the power and volume buttons? if so, no backlights. if you are talking about the "hard" button below the screen, yes, the "buttons" below the screen have a backlight.

capacitive buttons are backlit. They just aren't super bright.

Def. aren't bright at all. I could barely make them out when I was outside today. I wouldn't call it a deal breaker but an annoyance.
