I read somewhere that the update was delayed because of Sprint working on the SMS issue with their network. Hopefully what I read was untrue because the NS4G really needs this update.
That is unfortunate... hey question, since this update is supposed to fix signal issues, does that mean battery life too since the phone wont spend as much juice searching for reception?
I wish I had an answer for that, Justinlara313, but I dont know for sure. It stands to reason that less intensive searching equals less battery exhaustion but reasoning isnt the best method when it comes to this stuff. Hopefully this update will come thru soon so we can all get the answer.
This might be a silly question, but I'm new to android...I'm used to getting iPhone updates through iTunes... Once this update actually rolls out, is it automatically implemented on the phone or is there something we all need to do?

A notice should pop up on your phone, from there just follow the steps

What's up guys. Something interesting happened on Friday night. I turned off my Ns and when I turned up again like at 10 pm the screen had like a DOS type of screen. It had the Android doll and had some instructions. Unfortunately I couldn't read them and just pressed the power button and it booted normally.
My question is, was my Ns. Updated? My current android version is 2.3.4
Thanks

or you might have been holding volume up while powering the NS4G, which would have put you on the fastboot screen. I have done that several times by mistake and many other purposely.

Reason: got bored and Andy told me too
just got of the chat line with sprint, said he would push the update to both my Nexus in 24 hours....not going to hold my breath...wish me luck..keep you posted
What's got me pissed off.. is that there is no word from either Google or Sprint on what's going on. These guys need to get some kind of communication going.
I've been searching multiple forums, sprint help sites, google help sites, and rumor sites for the past day and not seen anything related to the supposed release or cancellation of the July 18th update...... This sucks lol
Don't take what Sprint is saying about pushing the update through, I've gotten that answer too.. then found out that Sprint isn't the one pushing the update through.. it's Google doing the update. Sprint just stopped it from happening.
That's the real problem.. Spring and Google don't say to much about anything.. they should be posting something about the update.. it's held up.. it's coming on xx date.. something.. but nothing..
I'm actually not having that much of a problem, of then the 4g.. not really being 4g.. and the wifi.. is ok.. as long as I just connect. Once the phone goes to sleep.. and wakes back up.. it loses the connection.. I have to delete the wifi connection.. then redo it.
Phone was great for a week or 2 then all of a sudden I'm lucky to have 1 bar of signal... 3G, 4G or wifi (and I bought an airrave for the house). Not much 4G in my area but at this point you can't even call this P.O.S. a mobile phone... more like a fancy mp3 player!

after being back with Sprint for a month i have decide that i made the wrong decision in switching from Verizon, even for the NS4G. i should have just stayed with Verizon & waited for the Bionic bkuz this is ridiculous! smh
we all know that it was cancelled on the 11th.. and it was suppose to be pushed out on the 18th.. now no one knows what's happening.. they guys at Sprint.. know nothing.. on what's happening with the update
I just got my phone and I am on GRJ22 .. should I update my phone using this process?

I wouldn't take what a low level script monkey says too seriously.
I didn't, just posted that to show how far off the communication is within Sprint on this update let alone the communication between Google, Sprint, and Samsuck
i used to work at the Sprint call center in KC & i talked to someone who currently still works in the tech department there...he basically said that Sprint is waiting on Samsung to push the update through...which i took as they have no idea when it will happen. gave me some company line about an error on Samsungs end...quite annoying!

lol why are you surprised ... I am sure you gave those crappy answers all the time while you worked there
The issues are not just 4G... my ns4g will barely connect to a 3G, 4G or wifi signal. And even when it does my bars are white instead of green 90% of the time and data is pathetically slow if not totally broke.

Take Google's second specially made Android Phone (Nexus S) and add a 4G radio on Sprint and what do you have? The Nexus S 4G. The phone officially launched on May 9th, 2011 and gives Sprint customers a great opportunity to enjoy the full Andro... Read More
