Cry Seems like syncing is "stuck"?

Hi all. I have a Nexus S 4G that's stock - it's not rooted or anything else. It's running Android 2.3.7, and three nights ago, I noticed that my battery life was being sucked down and that the sync icon in the status bar appeared to be "stuck" - it won't go away; it's been there for three days and two nights. Things I've tried:

- Powering the phone off and back on -- it reappears and again and just stays there.

- Factory reset -- so there aren't any apps installed, and it's still doing it.

- Deleting any accounts and re-adding them -- still syncing constantly.

- Toggling sync settings on and off under Accounts & Sync -- the sync icon remains in the status bar.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm pretty certain this isn't usual behavior -- the sync icon always being "stuck" in the status bar. Is there a way to tell what's currently syncing? Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful. My battery is crying.

I had the same issue. What solved it for me was opening the uninvited new Google Wallet app and setting it up. I didn't have to add any cards or payment info, just linking it to my gmail account and finishing the setup seemed to do the tick. I hope this is helpful.

It works! It works! Don't listen to Sprint; they'll tell you they need to do a hard reset which is so annoying!

Thank you MrZuitSuit!

I had the same issue. It seems to be a problem with Google Wallet. I uninstalled the latest Wallet update, unchecked the "auto update" feature and disabled the NFC option. Phone is back to normal now.

On this note, though it isn't GW related...I have noticed that I have gotten my phone to ultimately do the same behavior and it was because of my own setting selection.

I selected to not have automatic time in the date and time settings. This throws things off a lot when you aren't expecting it and there is a time difference. What made me realize it the most was that I have a countdown widget for certain things, such as anniversary, and it was showing like several thousand days. So I was like, ok, that's not right. I went to date and time and sure enough, the year was pushed back from now until 2004, kind of an odd year. Well anyways, all in all, having the time updated and correct, the phone could then sync. Otherwise, it wouldn't let me do anything and the sync indicator remained and my battery was dropping like a dive bomber. Since I came here to read and see what others were experiencing, I thought I'd report on my experience, that if that doesn't work above, check date and time just in case....
