Sprint just announced on Twitter that ICS is available for all Nexus S 4G users!
*Most users will have to wait atleast 9 more days before they receive the update*
Its out and currently available as a flash-able ROM on XDA or a few posts below this thread.
Edit:
I installed a few days ago and all I can say is WOW! its terrific and stupendous all in one hot tortilla. Seriously, this is a great ROM. Only thing missing for me is (free)wireless tether.

I assumed you odin'd it? Why not just root it then from there and get like barnacle or the other wifi tether apps? Just wondered, ok, thanks!
Some history on this, I have normally been against rooting, and for the other 2 NS4G phones in the house, I won't root those, but I like my phone being rooted now, but not going to be like oh do this or that, but just wondered how and why you didn't go the extra step,

Of the two phones here not rooted, not yet, no OTA. But my other, it is a great improvement, to each their own though you know, my wife may not like it at all, we'll see when she gets her OTA hah.
Tested the GPS on the way to work, still sucked and cant find signal for a while. The phone is running a little slower than Gingerbread but acceptable. Oh well, no more Samsungs for me.
My phone just won't take the update. I first tried the OTA last night and it got stuck on the yellow triangle warning screen, so I had to pull the battery to get past it. Today, I tried manually installing the update from the link above and it also keeps failing with some cryptic error message and than saying the installation aborted. Tried wiping everything and and doing it again, but that didn't seem to help. Also tried it from both CWM and stock recovery, and still no dice. Not sure what to try next...
The error I'm getting is:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/vendor/lib/libsec-ril.so", "[some long alpha-numeric string]", "[another long alpha-numeric string]")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I had to un-root and do a complete wipe and factory reset back to 2.3.4 before my ICS update finally took. Not sure why, but nothing else I tried worked... Oh well, I guess it's s good time to clean up my unused applications and such.
Got the OTA update on the 12th, haven't had much chance to look through all the improvements, but I did notice that of the three major upgrades they advertised (Beam, one-touch panoramic pictures, Face Unlock), I am missing the face unlock feature. Anyone know if I'm supposed to do something special to set that up, or is it supposed to be there from the get-go?
I'm not very impressed with ICS so far. The phone feels sluggish, launching applications or dialing phone numbers has a lag, the reception strength seems to have gone down a little (it's never been great, but it's even worse now), and the roaming has been tweaked for the worse (there is a place I go to every Saturday that has no Sprint signal, but I've always been able to data roam there. Today, I was without data at all the entire time). I'm also not digging the darker theme they picked for the ICS, especially the notification pull-down that's more difficult to read compared to 2.3. I'll give it a little more time to see if things get better, but I'm actually considering going back to 2.3.7 for the time being.
I did the update to ICS and now my phone is stuck in Landscape mode.
It was stock before. I used the Sprint Update
I have booted it into recovery twice to try and fix it with no luck.
I have turned off the auto rotate fixture and still no luck.
Sprint Tech Support is worthless.
Actually, speaking of the unlock screen, on gingerbread I had the options of unlocking my phone or setting it to silent mode. Now I have the options of unlocking my phone or going directly to the camera. Any ideas on how I can get the silent setting back?
I've tried going into settings to alter it, but it will only allow me to change the screen unlock method, not let me alter the settings of the slide unlock method.

After using ICS for a few days, I have observed that battery life is more or less the same as Gingerbread (..5 to 6 hours with constant/heavy use.......14 hours + with light use). I was without data for part of Saturday as well, so it must have been a Sprint network issue??!!?? Overall I'm happy with ICS based on my initial impressions.
Take Google's second specially made Android Phone (Nexus S) and add a 4G radio on Sprint and what do you have? The Nexus S 4G. The phone officially launched on May 9th, 2011 and gives Sprint customers a great opportunity to enjoy the full Andro... Read More
