Hey everyone. I have a Nexus S and I've been using it for 2 months or so and have been relatively satisfied. But today after dinner I checked my phone and discovered that all my text messages had gotten deleted...

I dunno if it's relevant, but Evernote was running/syncing when the text messages got deleted; also, it went really weird for a second and displayed the contacts I texted under different names... (e.g. "Terry" got changed into another one of my contacts, "Paul")

Is there any way to recover the messages? There were some text messages I'd really have loved to keep, so I'm pretty bummed out about this. If there isn't any way, anyone know what could be causing the bug and how to prevent it in the future? *sighs*.

i don't think recovering would be possible, but you can use backup sms apps in the future to avoid losing more messages.
one time while i was typing a message the application "messaging" force closed and when I opened it again all my messages were gone.

Same issue here. All messages were suddenly deleted.
The only thing I did in the meanwhile was removing the screen lock (PIN code).
When I received a text message, all my messages were gone...

I've now installed an automatic backup app. Let's hope that this doesn't happen again.

Sorry to say, but I have had an iPhone 2G for more than 3 years and never had any issues with it. Now only 3 months on android and ...

That's why people root and install custom rom's ! I had 2 phones - rooted - and NEVER happened to me in 2Y !


Returning to topic ...you can use "Sms backup and restore" from market ,and set it to auto-backup your messages [@ 1 day ,2 days etc.] !

As for RECOVERY ,you sadly can't !
