Has anyone installed the kernel to run the Voodoo app?
I've tried a few times and all I get is "E:signature verification failed"
The Voodoo site says to load it in the recovery mode, no root needed...
I must be doing something wrong

I haven't installed it, but normally this happend because you haven't a custom recovery in.
I had no idea you could do it without rooting. I'm using the 1.2.4 bfs netarchy kernel with Voodoo sound and the color fix. That's great for people who don't want to root.

Well I looked at the link and the only link for a kernel was for the Galaxy S gt-9000 so that won't work for the nexus s. And honestly I don't think you can install a kernel without rooting. Unless you can flash the kernel without unlocking the bootloader. But I don't believe that's possible. Also I'm pretty sure you need to have at least a custom recovery in order to flash a kernel as well.
Rooting can be complicated if you don't know what you're doing. If you think you want to try rooting and flashing a custom rom or even keep the stock rom. I can link a tutorial which is really easy to follow they really go through every step. Plus if you have any problems people on these forums or over on XDA would be happy to help you.
After flashing a few custom roms I never want to go back to stock.
I'm really not unhappy with the phone and the stock ROM, it's fast and everything works, but I'm not impressed at all with the 2.3.3 color change. That was why I wanted to run Voodoo.
What advantage is there to running other ROM's besides overclocking and home pages? I've read there are problems with some ROM's, apps not working, etc.
I'm always open to better stuff...

Well you have a lot more you can do with it. Especially if you enjoy better sound quality, full customization, better performance, and battery life. I mean what else could you ask for. Plus you can have custom boot animations. (I'm currently using the honeycomb boot animation it's awesome.)
Plus I'm using the cm7 rc1 rom which is very stable. I haven't had any problems with apps not working or force closes. Plus even though I'm still on 2.3.2 I haven't experienced any random reboots with cm7.
I think when it says "not rooted" it just means the ROM does not give you root permissions. You'll still need to root your device to install the ClockWorkRecovery Image.
