Default manual ics update from 2.3.6

i have a telus account with an unlocked i0902a**** (forget last characters) nexus s.

doesn't seem to be finding ota update. i figure it should be out. this is killing me.

so i'm wondering about a manual update to available official update to 4.0.4.

are there any dangers from doing it manually?

and also, how does one go about doing this manually?

i saw someone bricked their phone. i really don't want to run that danger especially if just waiting will bring me the update.

p.s. the chekin thing doesn't give me success notification anymore.

Try this sticky right at the top:
