I think pressure on the screen causes that. Every time I've had that it's I've left it in the holster flat down and not upright like fastened to a belt and not taken the phone out.
The last episode corrupted something. The log went by too fast to see.
Mine's GSM, rooted and I was able to recover by restore, then restore all apps from Titanium backup. The phone is working as it always did.
I don't know about CDMA phones.
