Default "Your SD card is full" but it shouldn't be

Often these days, when I open the camera on my Nexus One, it says "Your SD card is full" and won't let me take pictures (boo hoo).

When I go into "Settings" and then "SD card," it says the total space on my SD card is 3.69GB, and the total available space is 3.62MB.

I have no idea what is taking up all the space. I do not have that many apps, and they are all on the main system card, not the SD card. I do not have that many photos on the SD card and I transfer them to my computer frequently, deleting them after I transfer them.

I went through my Android system folders with the phone plugged into my computer, but can't find the culprit. There just isn't any one findable folder that is using a significant amount of space on the SD card. Yet according to the phone's own monitoring of itself, the SD is virtually full.

What to do?

I would copy everything off the SD card, format it and copy it back over again.

I have the same problem and thanks for the solution.
I was going to ask the same queston, but found this thread so I thought I would add my question here.
Please could you tell me how you format an sd card as I don't understand.
I am slowly learning but a lot is still alien to me.
Many thanks

Well you can either do it in Windows by right clicking on the drive and selecting format, or in the storage settings on the phone.

Thanks.
Is it complex?
If so, would you mind supplying an idiots guide as I am very inexperienced and hace never formatted a drive.

Cheers

Default Hi tried format, still having problems please?

Hi

Thanks for the formatting suggestion. I tried that and it didn't work.
I copied the contents of the sd card and formatted the card (drive g) then I pasted the copied files back into the SD card.

My camera says "your sdcard is full"

I cannot download any more apps because I am getting an error message saying "insufficient storage available"

I right clicked the drive my sd card is on, and hit "properties"
It says 3.55gb free storage, 270mb used.

Please can anyone tell me what is going on.

Many thanks for your help so far.

Hello again

Please excuse my dumb-ness, I just realised that this is the nexus forums.

The thread came up automatically when I tried to make a post on the U8510 phone forum, so, rather than make another post, I added to this, which was a bit of a mistake.

Anyway, I just came across this page http://www.ganshani.com/2012/01/11/fix-insufficient-storage-available-on-android/ which shows how to fix this problem on android, it may be of some help to you
