Default how to clear voicemail symbol from task bar

Trying to figure this out switched to Google voice after clearing out my voice mail for T-Mobile. It says that there are no messages but the icon wont go away. I've tried clearing from the task bar but it gets rid of everything except the voicemail icon any tips?

Only suggestion is go through TM and GV voicemails and delete all of them. See if that clears it up.

I've said if before and I'll say it again. This OS has some real notification synchronization issues, I hope google sees these problems like I do.

Had this problem with T-Mobile voice-mail icon on purchase of new Nexus One. Solution: disable Google Voice, leave message to self on "carrier voicemail," call, retrieve message, then delete. Problem solved.

Had the same problem on AT&T when I first got my Nexus One. Had to do what everyone else is talking about to remove it - log in to my carriers voicemail and delete whatever voicemails are there. Problem solved...

Good luck.
