I don't know if O2 UK have ever carried an Android phone but I'm sure there's a number of iPhone owners coming to the end or their contracts who might upgrade to Android soon and stay with O2. Either that or Android owners on other networks looking to move to O2 at the end of their contract.
Me? I've had a dumbphone on O2 for the last two years and been very pleased with them. Just pre-ordered an unlocked HTC Desire and thought I'd try O2 for a few months on a 30 day contract to see if their 3G data side of things is up to scratch in and around London, Birmingham, Manchester and the bits in between. If it's not good then I'll probably be off to Vodafone.
Anyone had a positive experience with Android on O2?
well i just stuck my o2 sim in mine and its going good so far, though i am keeping an eye on the data bundle to see if i go over my limit,but im pay and go so they only give you 200mb ? not sure about vodafone but t mobile do an unlimited plan for £20 a month but no free calls or texts. i had an iphone too and the desire just wipes the floor with it. better than the hd2 too which i had briefly. its so quick and the screen is gorgeous, very easy to set up and just a pleasure to use .

On my 3rd Android phone using a postpay contract SIM with O2.
eBay purchased G1 for 1 month (returned to seller - IMEI problem)
Shop Bought sim free HTC Magic for 6 months or so - still have it as a spare.
Currently running a Nexus One with no issues.

I'm still waiting for my Desire to arrive, hopefully this week, so I'll obviously be wanting to get it up and running as soon as possible!

I use 2 APNs on my Nexus One (the same as I had on the Magic):

Just thought I'd jump in to say I'm running a Samsung Galaxy (Android 1.5) via o2, all working well after the last firmware update improved a few niggles with the phone. Just waiting for a 1.6/2.0 release now
a couple of days ago i put my o2 sim(on iphone monthly contract with data add on,extra £5 per month) straight from my iphone into my new nexus one and it flys along.
opens web pages much much faster,downloads apps at least twice as fast and just looks and feels better.
im in london but havent tried it out out in the sticks yet.
I've used my existing o2 SIM on Simplicity 20, straight into my Desire and everything seems to be working great! All the MMS and WAP settings seemed to pull through and although I haven't sent an MMS yet, I've received one fine!
I ended up buying the phone SIM free and unlocked online after getting sick and tired of waiting for o2 to release it on contract! They went from showing it available "April End" on their "Coming Soon" page on the site, to then "May"...Grrr! They did announce prices and tarrifs on their blog but no really good deals, and nothing that beats my Simplicity tarrif!
Have been using an unlocked G1 for a while on O2, no issues. Just ordered a Desire handset only from O2, £285 mid-contract, no contract extension, just the handset, absolute bargain.

I'm glad to hear all is well with your Galaxy, I've just returned mine (wife's)and received a Desire as a replacement for it through O2. It had been back for repair 3 times and the last straw was when it was returned on Saturday it went wrong again on Sunday.
Problems included dropping Wi-fi, dropping calls, lock button not working, lock button turning phone off, phone rebooting intermittently without intervention and unresponsive screen.
I was pretty P'd off when I found that Samsung would not ever be upgrading to 2.1 and that even 1.6 was not accessible freely without using Odin/Galaxo. No disrespect to anyone on here who has supplied all the guides how to upgrade because the information is all there and excellent, I just think Samsung should have better support for the Galaxy.
I already have a Desire on Vodafone with no problems so I hope my nearest and dearest will be happy with her newly acquired Desire.
Slightly off the point: but I moved from BT to o2 for my broadband. BT's billing system drove me mad. Very surprised with the service from o2. On a score from 1 to 10. I would give BT -1 and o2 an 8 - Highest meaning the best service.
