Default [ALPHA] ICS for Optimus M (NOW COMPILED AND BOOTING)

Hey everyone, just wanted to give the heads up, i am currently pulling source for a AOSP ICS rom, once everything is synced up, ill be compiling with existing proprietary files to see if i can get a bootable image. One problem, i will be needing some people to test this for me as my service with metro is currently off i wont be able to make or recieve calls text, data and whatnot. Im hoping to have this up sometime between today and tomorrow if everything works out. If your interested in helping with testing please reply to this message. Once its compiled and bootable i will PM you a download link, and my email. Any issues you have with the rom please send me an email so we can all work together on getting the bugs worked out. Once most of the bugs are worked out and it is mostly fucntional i will post a ROM thread for download and further assistance. Thanx everyone.

UPDATE: here is a flashable zip. flash at your own risk. Not much works right now.. it does boot, there is a problem with the multitouch, you have to drag the circle over where you want to click and then put a second finger on the screen. but im working on it.. i have to go through and edit some stuff for a recompile. here is a link tot he flashable zip, just flash like any other rom, GAPPS IS NOT REQUIRED.

EDIT:
updated rom with a little eyecandy, enjoy the new bootanimation.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42841380/thunderc_signed_122111_142427.zip

If you get a black screen after flashing this, reboot into recovery and flash reppards AnyROM kernel.
http://db.tt/5oOyrHQ

i will be uploading my source for others to work on, when i have the info for that i will post it.
thanx again everyone. lets see if we can get this thing out of alpha lol

EDIT: here are my working files for anyone who wants to try to compile this and help work out the bugs. they are all zipped up in a file of the respective folder name withing the android source. the lge.tar.gx need to go int he device folder.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42841380/transfer.tar.gz
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42841380/vendor.tar.gz
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42841380/external-webrtc.tar.gz

when i get around to setting up my github, once i fugre that out.. lol. ill post a link to it to make things easier
KJohns and SeemsLegit like this.

Hey man, I'm in too. I'll be able to test everything including 3g. And I'll mess around with it and let you know if something works better after some tweaks.

Default Face camera

I heard the Gnex has the face camera and will unlock if it sees your face. I wonder if it could also work for the optimus' camera. Since it doesnt have a face camera. I'd like to test that mainly lol. If it doesn't work, ima go straight up and install a face camera.

I'd love to help once it's into beta. The Optimus M is my only phone so I can't really be playing around with alpha's, but I sure would love to help beta test it.

I have three Optimus M's. One isn't really necessary. I would be happy to BETA test. Not ALPHA test. Get it running with Cell, and text, I'm in. We can happily work out thee bugs from there.

I'm no ROM developer, but I respect those that are. I sincerely hope you continue your work and keep this tired old phone (that was born this way ) alive.

bad news first i guess.. i have been riddles with BSODs all day, actually for the past few days.. but worse today than any other.. thoguht it may be the memory i replaced the old stuff with but after 3 hours of memtest86 and no errors its not a memory issue. in the process of moving things around and seeing if it was my configuration (internal of the computer) thatw as the problem, my 2 year old daughter came over and hit the power button and powered on ym computer while int he middle of pulling my gpu, after completely dismantling my computer to look for burn marks on anything, and 2 hours of it not booting at all, i finally have it up and running, unfortionately, as soon as it actually has to think, it BSODs on me. as soon as i try to boot up the vbox to mess with the source, it BSODs, anytime the cpu, memory, chipset is under any stress.. it BSODs. so while im not done with the project and have every intention of completing it, im not going to be able to move further until i get these issues sorted out. i thank you all being patient and offering ur assistance in testing this, but unfortionately, i have no ETA at this time. sorry guys.

OMG!!!! Eh I can wait lol. And damn I know how you feel. I erased everything of windows. it was just all black. Took 6 months of work to get all the files. And reprogram it. But no worries no worries. Look on the bright side. Obama's still president. We all have our lives, hoorah!!

And major ups for you fixing it!!! You know how to do amazing things on this. Yet idk how to take out the battery -___-

Question 1, what are your PC's specs? Requirements list to compile ICS are way above what most ppl have. I think what I read was, dual quad core, min 16GB of RAM and 30GB free space on the HDD.

more details: Heads up: preparing development machines for the future release of ICS in AOSP - Android Building | Google Groups

Question 2) have you built any other ROMs from src b4? Reason I ask is everything changes for ICS as compared to GB etc. I have been told touchscreen drivers will have to be rewrote/edited to work etc. EGL from GB does not work at all currently. And a whole list of other things, which is why I been waiting on the CM team to work their magic.

Question 3.) Plz tell me you are not trying to build on windows??

Other than that GL and good to see you give it a try at least

Lol.. Ok specs are 8GB ram.. Well 7 now.. Dual core.@3.0ghz. Its somewhat.of an older system. However i.have already built the source on a full-eng just to see of it would make it. Have those bugs worked out. You may laugh.but.i'm trying to build this on a vbox. I was originally going to dual boot Ubuntu so that Ubuntu would have full access to the resources available but that is what caused my initial problem a the install didn't have video drivers available for on the disc for my gpu and kept black screening and then rebooting. I have a Asus p5n-d mobo. With a very sensitive bios apparently.. War fine with my dual channel memory but doesn't like whati'm using now.. I thought.. But its not a mem problem anymore.. Rebuilding with a dodger mobo in under morning once i'm back up a have a couple new things to try..

yea you are prolly really taxing what you have esp in a vm. The vm/vbox is limited at best.

I may try building AOSP ICS tonight when I get back from ATL to see how my PC handles it.

Are you trying to port CM9 or AOSP ICS?

I have a good feeling about you guys collabing on this build. I know it will come out nice clean and fully functional here soon.

Is there a benefit to building ASOP? I really don't know, and am wondering if it would be easier to let the Cyanogen team build it first and mod off their fork later. (With their permission and proper credits of course.)

Aosp is stock Android. Cyanogen is a modded version worth extra tweaks. At this point I just wanna see how ur runs on this phone to see if it is worth waiting for cyanogen to release theirs. If I could get the damn source to re-sync it'd be nice.. I had to start from scratch beachside in the process of moving stuff around I some corrupted my SHA1 and couldn't re-sync to straighten it out. So now i'm hanging at 98%... Bit the work goes on.. I think once I get finished syncing I should be able to build it. I believe I have all the files I need set up the right way.. Just need the source to finish.
