what would the bennifit be of haveing rooted 2.2.2 over 2.2.1 will the roms work and is there really a difference?
It means new OM's that come with the 2.2.2 update wont have to downgrade to root their phones.
I tried, and sadly (as I expected) ROMming brought back the reboot issue. Have to Yank the kernel from update and apply it to a custom ROM to see benefits.
So I think I found my next project.

what if someone were to upgrade and root to 2.2.2 and flash reppards CM7... would that cause any issues?
It would work, but reboot problem returns.
Mike, ill pull your kernel if its the unmodified updated 2.2.2 kernel. Otherwise ill take it from stick update. At this point, ill take stock CPU speeds and stable over OC and reboot daily.

No modifications have been made. Just removed bloat, replaced lghome with adw launcher. Added a couple apps. Adjusted build prop. And I think thats all.

Is this a root for 2.2.2 SW Version MS690ZV7 update that fixed the reboot issue? And without the addition of any custom rom's just bloatware removal, will the reboot issue return?

Yes, this will root that version. The reboot issue should not return unless you flash the phone with a rom or kernel built for 2.2 or 2.2.1. The fix for the reboot issue required an updated kernel, which those roms do not have. Though, its safe to remove the bloat yourself, or flash Kelso's 2.2.2 rom. (which I might try) There is a few threads on this forum the explain which apps are safe to remove and which aren't. Anyways, good luck.

Hello,
Please help out a newb and tell me what is an "OM"?
Google was no help. I am guessing "Operating Memory" maybe? Something similar to operating system? IDK
please advise... over,
Thanks in advance,
Perryinjax
When flashing a ROM, Theme or whatever do you need to wipe all user data or do you just wipe data, cache and dalvick cache. I seem to get better results when I wipe all user data but it is a pain setting up my phone again. I guess I am asking can I flash a theme and still keep my contacts and everything on my phone the same?

Another NOOB Q, once in recovery mode how do you exit back to normal mode, just turn the phone off and back on?

I myself have 2 Optimus' and had joneidy's recovery on my first one. Had a melt down and bricked it. So I reflashed the stock rom and put the GNM recovery on it. Got my second OM and it had/has the reboot issue so I also put the GNM recovery on it and have been flashing roms like crazy to see the best/stable one. So far I like the CM7 mods, but the stock debloated with the OC kernel seems to be less buggy on my one OM. My other one can run stable at 825/806 but I was getting rebooted when activated. Now that I don't have it active it doesn't reboot! And seems like the more flashing I do to my good OM, its starting to randomly reboot and seem buggy. I know its not the roms but I am and have been tempted to *228 and activate my other one to see if I get any different results.

More questions-
Does the new rom have the throttle-be-gone built in? There was a separate download before... Now I only see it in the ICS Theme.
Yea,a2sd is baked in. Should be good upon first boot.
As for the throttle b gone. Since the ics theme seems to be the hotness,I just edited it to take out the throttle. Ill make a universal white clock with the throttle removed for those who don't want to use the ics theme.

When you say White clock, is that on the white status bar with black text? Like in the original EZ Rider ROM.

I had lost my hope on this phone and had thought this day would never come.. I got tired of my phone freezing every 5 seconds and all the hard times it gave me so I put it away in my closet and bought the Samsung Galaxy Indulge 4G. My mom wanted this phone after I got my new one, but I didn't want to give it to her because of all the problems. But now months after finally there is a way to root 2.2.2. This guide is pretty simple, after that I flashed over to kelsomod, and then to CM7 By Reppard.
Just letting you guys know that if you try to flash a ROM right after you are done rooting your phone, your phone will have a brick and stay stuck on the boot logo (You will still be able to go to recovery) to avoid that just flash the kelsomod rom right after rooting, and from then on, flash any LG Optimus M ROM you want.
@ mikekelso421 hey kelso love the root works awesomly. But one problem though. on youtube (and ive seen this problem posted somewhere else but no help) i get a green/purple line at the top of videos viewed in high qualtiy. also there is discoloration as well. mostly wrong colors or just black and white. do you know how i can fix this? the other person who posted the same problem used your mod (if thats how its called i get confused with this terminology mainly cuz im new to android flashing, except psp :lol)
