Hi there, hope this helps, when I first got my OptM I did a whole lotta research and then successfully rooted my phone. If your phone is fairly new there is an official update to 2.3.4 at LG, although i don't personally know anyone who's done it. It is available at there site so you might want to try that before a root. However if you want to root 2.2.2 I can tell you I tried every concievable method to root my cell and nothing works on that update! It's an update to 2.2.1. So, what I found that works is first you have to take your Android BACK to 2.2.1 and Then root it, once that is done you can flash a new OS(Android) like BobZ's or Rappard's version of CM7(they are both mod's of 2.3.4) if you do just make sure you use the right Recovery for it. I like Thunderc. You can go to ALL Things Rooted on this site and read about all sorts of wonderfull things for the LG MS690. These phones can fly if you know & research on how do the mod's. I currently run my processor at 748g and it's great. I haven't run out of memory YET and I have 291 App's installed!!! So do your home work and I'm 200% sure you'll be satisfied. GOOD LUCK!!! Oh yah battery life is well over 24 hours easy, Just depends on use and the type of app's you use.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news to ya, but see the links above in posts 2 and 3. Version 2.2.2 can be rooted using that method. I have personally done it to my phone. The update to 2.3.4 you are talking about isn't available for the Optimus M. Our phones won't update to that unless we use Cyanogen Mod 7 from reppard, Bobz, or Playfulgod, or one of the ports that sammys or primmed did. Search on them.
