Default GingerBreak on Optimus M 2.2.1

I think I am about ready to root my first device.

From the instructions located here: ........1 Click Root Optimus m (Gingerbreak)..............

It appears I need to get the APK onto the phone not the SD card. However, when I connect the phone to the PC the only access I have is a mass storage USB. There does not appear to be a way to directly access the phone from the PC.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

I had to use the [ROOT KIT] OPTIMUS M 2.2.2 (Dummy-proof-3-click) guide. i couldn't get gingerbreak or z4root to work after after 2.1.1 update.

Mass storage is the SD card

You have a typo. z4root is for 2.2 and gingerbreak is for 2.2.1
