Thank you, that sounds perfect. Before I start though I just wanted to check - will that process work for 2.3.x (I think it's gingerbread?)

Rooting guide can be used but ClockWorkMod recovery guide CAN'T be used because P698 has different recovery image.
I'm searching on the Google for your phone's recovery image. If I find, I'll post here.

I got it!
You can consider this guide after rooting your phone:

[RECOVERY] ClockWorkMod 5.5.0.4 for LG Optimus Dual SIM (P698) - xda-developers

If you succeed using this guide, post here feedback. Then I'll post it in my guide.

Good luck.

You have to put the files in /mnt/sdcard or /sdcard
(Both are same.)

Try it and give feedback here.

I think the cm7.2 of kareendps is already bug free.

Just find the latest version of that rom and kernel ( think it is the battkelly).

I'm using cm9 by markolino.. Though this rom is incomplete, it still doesn't have camera yet.

Sorry for late reply.

Exams are finished. I'm studying for the degree of Bachelor in Computer Application, first year, first semester. So, exams are important...

I'm currently using stock ROM and waiting for stable CyanogenMod 7.2.
If you want stock ROM back, you can use this guide for flashing it:

How to flash official KDZ ROM updates for your LG P690 mobile phone

Hi Rohan / Avani,

I haven't said that you can't use key combination.

Key combination: Power + Volume up + home

I'm AFRAID OF using that.
I don't know what happens because I haven't tried that yet.

If something strange happens, for e.g, hard reset; then my phone will die!

I don't wanna lose it 'cause it's my first Android.

If you try and succeed, then please post here...

Thanks...

Hi, all. I rooted my Optimus Slider the other day, and followed your instructions on how to flash, but every time I reboot into recovery, it just sits on the LG logo, until I remove the battery and boot it up. Mind lending me a hand here? Thanks.

You shouldn't have used the recovery image of different phone.
This recovery image is only for LG P690 (Optimus Net), not for any other.

You've done a big mistake.

You can find a recovery image for your phone and flash it using commands given in guide. Just use flash_image and recovery.img you have downloaded, not one which I've given.

I can guess the key combination because one user posted:

Quote:
I tried using Quickboot app to boot into recovery, but it just hard-reset my phone.
We can perform hard-reset using: Volume up + Home + Power
But after installing CWM, we boot into recovey, not hard reset I think.

We can perform hard-reset using: Volume up + Home + Power
But after installing CWM, we boot into recovey, not hard reset I think.
ok, i tried it, it worked.

vol up + home + power = Recovery (only if u installed recovery other wise it will hard reset the phone)

vol up + back + power = EMG mode.

So, NO NEED TO USE QUICKBOOT OR ANY APP.

I know how to flash a custom ROM but I've not found any stable ROM for this phone. For e.g., CyanogenMod 7.2, all function works in this ROM except USB Tethering, Camera and Bluetooth.

These are very important functions that you may not like to lose.
That's why I've not still flashed any custom ROM.

If you still, anyway, want to flash custom ROM, I'll post here.
Just reply if you want to go further.

Thumbs up Found a ROM for Lg optimus net P690!!! :)

Thanks for your reply...
I found a good AOKP ported ICS ROM for my Lg optimus net P690 and installed it successfully. The only issue with it is camera and offline charging are not working...rest everything works perfect.

Default the whole philosophy is ??

LG P690f - I want to go all the way here, from go to whoa. But I need to understand the philosophy of the process. Root - got it, no problem. Why ClockWorkMod? Why not straight through to CyanogenMod? What does CWM achieve?
Once I get this understanding and follow on, how do we then complete the process?
As you can tell, this is first time for me.

Many thanks for your time and work.

Let me explain you.

How would install/replace an OS on a computer which has no CD Drive and USB Slot?
It's required to have a CD Drive/USB Slot to insert a bootable CD/USB and install an OS.

It's a similar situation over here.

Just like a CD Drive, The Recovery Image is required to install any custom OS(ROM).
Recovery Image can be called as a 'Small OS which installs another OS'.

If you go to elsewhere and ask them how to install CyanogenMod or any custom ROM, they'll tell you:

1. Boot into recovery
2. Wipe Data / Factory Reset
3. Wipe Cache Partition.
4. Wipe Dalvik Cache.
5. Select 'Install ZIP from SD Card'.
6. Select the ROM's ZIP and you're done.

These 6 operations are performed by the Recovery Image.

The LG P690 has no built-in recovery image; then how would you perform all these steps?
Fortunately, it's possible to install a custom recovery image.

So, I've given the procedure to install a custom Recovery Image i.e., The ClockWorkMod Custom Recovery Image.

Got it?
