  1. You need to download the firmware of your device. Please check here the The_ERROR thread wich explains it very well:
[ROMS] Original LG Firmware list - xda-developers
  2. Download KDZ updater and uncompress it
    KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download
  3. Install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory
  4. Conect your device (do not turn on disk storage) and run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (Has administrator).
  5. Select Type : 3GQCT
  6. Select PhoneMode : DIAG
  7. In KDZ file : Choose the ROM file you downloaded in the first step
  8. Press Launch software update and wait (It will be 10 minutes or so). In your phone it will appear "Emergency mode". Wait until it reboots.
And you're done!

This is what I did:

Basically on a windows machine you download kdz updater and uncompress it as it is a zip file.

This is what I did on an xp laptop.

I had to down load the drivers from the official lg site. when here you enter the code that is on the box the phone came in or under the battery.
Chose the your county and laguage from the drop down box at the top right of the dialogue box. Then from the middle you can choose the drivers. For some reason I had to find the files and click on them to install the driver.

Ok once you decompress kdz updater there are three seperate files to work with. 1. windows enabler. 2. msxml.msi 3.KDZ_FW_UPD.exe

You will also need to download the right file to restore with. For me being in Australia with 2.2 I needed V10a-00.kdz. You can find it with google.

Double click windows enabler and you will find an icon in the system tray at the bottom. Left click once and it will say on. Click and install msxml now.

Now you have to boot the phone into rescue mode. On Lg Optimus One turn phone off even if it means taking out the battery.
Press power - volume up - back (this button is next to the home button).

Connect to usb now. the lap top found new hardware and installed four drivers.

Then open device manager. Left click my computer - properties - device manager. You need to disable the lg modem driver. Left click on it and disable.

Now launch kdz updater. There will be a drop box on left set to 3gspt or similiar. on the right drop box set to diag. The long box just above the info box with a file at the side lets you browse to find restore file. e.g. V10a.00.kdz.

Double click the button below and let it do it's thing. My xp laptop is old and slow. Took 15min. My phone shut down and came up with an error at the last minute. Anyway I rebooted and all was good.

Everything was the way I left it. Just had to re-root.

My only real problem was getting the kdz installer to see the phone.
After installing the drivers restart pc. If it finishes quickly and just before saying finished it says phone not found try removing all phone related drivers including nokia pc suite and the lg suite and remove and reinstall the drivers.

It took a bit to get it right but it was worth it. How do you tell the wife your new phone is bricked?????

Anyway I going to install android on my main pc with virtual box so I can test everything before doing on the phone from now on.

Hope this is of some help to you.
i followed what u said, downloaded everything, but whenever i click on launch update, it says phone not found... i dont know how to fix this, its already connected but my laptop seems to not recognize the file.. can u help me with this...?

Relax.. Your phone is not bricked.. There is a way to fix it...

First disable all LGE modems under modems from windows device manager..

Make sure you have LG united mobile drivers installed.. Or just google for it..

Charge your phone before proceeding even if the backlight is always on..

Things required:
Kdz updater:
xda-developers - View Single Post - KDZ_FW_UPD English version
Stock rom:
[ROMS] Original LG Firmware list - xda-developers
USB cable, Windows PC with administrator account..

Then press and hold both the back(return) button and the volume up button and simultaneously connect the USB cable..

The phone should light up and say Emergency mode!! in a green background.. If it goes to emergency mode, it can be fixed... Even at your home...

Then decompress the 7z, install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory and run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (With administrator rights by right clicking and selecting run as administrator).
Select Type : 3GQCT and PhoneMode: DIAG, select the kdz file and flash the stock ROM... It would take about 15 minutes.. If the kdz updater crashes, change compatibility mode or restart the computer and phone or do something till it works (Retry retry retry)...

Follow any one choice:

Choice 1:
If you want your phone to have all the data before you bricked it, just disconnect the usb when the phone shows the charge screen as if you are charging the phone while it is switched off.. (This was discovered accidentally by me so try it at your own risk) After disconnecting try to power on the normal way and it should work and the phone should be like it was never bricked.. If it doesn't boot retry flashing from the start.. If it starts and all your data is restored root it, install titanium backup and backup all your apps and data and save the contents of sdcard\titaniumbackup to your pc.. Then copy all you want in your sdcard to your pc.. Then redo all the steps without disconnecting till the kdz flasher says FINISHED.. This is because if you disconnect the usb in the middle, only half the rom would be installed which is unstable.. After installing the full rom, root it, and install titanium backup and copy all the copied content back to sdcard\titaniumbackup and restore them using titanium backup.. That's it..

Choice 2:
If you do not want the data and if you need to do a risk-free unbrick, then flash with the kdz updater and wait till it says FINISHED.. That's it..

Now that you know how to unbrick it, try installing what bricked your phone again but in the correct way... GOOD LUCK...

PRESS THE THANK BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU...
laptop is unable to recognize the phone - already disabled the lg mobile usb modem from device manager, what am i missing? plz help

How's everyone doing, still any unresolved problems? I see the last post is from like 2 weeks ago. I just went through the same process of reviving my O1, so I might be able to help while what I did is still fresh in my head. Thanks, for the useful topic too, tho I managed to get directly to THE_ERROR's one on XDA.

Default Not starting in emergency or recovery mode

I tried to flash a rom with KDZ on my optimus one and in the middle of the process it gave me an error and stopped. I want to say here that I did this with other ocasions and it worked (for my phone and for another one), the same rom and with the same procedure.
After restart, it doesn't power on, doesn't start in recovery and not even start in emergency mode (it does not show me any LG logo and it's behaveing like it has no battery, but the battery is full). I tried all the possible combinations, with my battery on and off, I even tried on another computer, but still nothing. I have no warranty any more so I have to start it somehow in emergency mode. I can provide with the last logs or the detailled story if it helps. After 2 days of reading all the possible forums and tring all out there, I'm out of ideas.
Pls help.

It does NOT switch to emergency mode and for my motherboard it could not be fried from a simple update operation (soft could not harm your hardware, or at least that's what guys from repairing manufactory says). Anyway, it has to be a way to reach emergency mode. I just heard from Jtag procedure with a box, but I'll have to dig it to find out more.

[QUOTE=4wd vege;2064852]Ok I copied this from xda forum by: Zecanills.

  1. You need to download the firmware of your device. Please check here the The_ERROR thread wich explains it very well:
[ROMS] Original LG Firmware list - xda-developers
  2. Download KDZ updater and uncompress it
    KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download
  3. Install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory
  4. Conect your device (do not turn on disk storage) and run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (Has administrator).
  5. Select Type : 3GQCT
  6. Select PhoneMode : DIAG
  7. In KDZ file : Choose the ROM file you downloaded in the first
5, 6, 7 require KDZ updater to work properly. Mine stays grey, I have tried 3 other programs other than windows enabler 1.1, still no help.

I can't do anything, I am stuck at that step.

Thanks ... Thanks... Thanks

Oh God it took me a unprecedented level of patience and perseverance to get this issue fixed !! I had tried all what was described above by you .... The Trick that worked for me was to remove SD Card ...and Voila..... It worked as charm ..KDZ finally detected my P500. Now I just flashed 2.3.3 ...rooted and has flashed CM 9.0 Beta 2 in my P500..its working great except Camera.

Tip : If USB or Debugging doesn't work then delete Dalvik Cache..it will surely work

Thumbs up

I know that, you guys from other replies on top of this thread tried that guy method.
But i have much easier and faster method.
When your phone is turned off press POWER-VOLUME UP-HOME, it will do factory reset as the same as when you do that from phone setings.
I got my P500 bricked too, but I unbricked it with this method.
I hope someone will use this.
It should work on other LG android devices.

Default Thanks to LG Support

If your phone is not powering on at all (no display, no emergency mode, not able to boot at all, no boot screen, no LG Logo) Your phone is really bricked. You have to take to LG Service center , they have to replace your PCB (Motherboard) with charge of INR 1,200/-

They replaced it within few hours
