Use App Quarantine(found in the market) to quarantine any system app. If everything acts normal after Quarantine then you should be able to delete. Titanium Backup has an option to freeze an app.

I personally first backup just about anything I want to uninstall, using TitaniumBackup. If it can't be uninstalled in the normal way, I follow the steps laid out in the Barebones section of the CyanogneMod Wiki:
Barebones - CyanogenMod Wiki
Which includes instructions for uninstalling via adb or the terminal, as well as the differnce between system/non-system apps.

Note- if you have any of the 2sd scripts going, you may need to use their instructions.

Could you change the color of the clear button for the next release? The green button with grey text is really ugly and impossible to read. It would look better with black text with the green background or just put it back to the default color.

Yes, that color change was an accident. It will be fixed in the next release.

Actually a theme shouldn't change that button.

Used the gapps that Bob Zhome linked. Tightened the newest build right up. With the V6 Supercharger set at 9 and then 12, this ROM is the smoothest, fastest, tightest ROM I've had on my "V" so far. Will stress test and check functionality when I get off work. Thanks again for all the hard work and great support JerryScript and everybody else whose info helped.

I believe that's the Rover theme found... right HURRR: [CM7 Theme] Rover's Mix V.1.9 + Rover Wallpaper + Lockscreen & Animations [08 May 11] - xda-developers

Oh and by the way, so it's safe to install the newest gapps without formatting dalvik-cache, cache partition or anything?

You don't need to format anything when installing the latest gapps, but you should wipe cache and dalvik-cache. If you then have any issues, then you would have to format data, and possibly system, but only if you have problems.

Yup, that's a Rover theme, I use the cyan Rover theme, similar to his blue one, but cyan instead, and it does fix the green clear button.

After trying to get the recent update of iho and the theme i i picked up some big problems..

1.I cant add my gmail account(GMail wont open crashes when clicked)

2.Cant go into the market, when clicked asks me to add a account then sends me to the home screen.

3.When adding an account from contacts google is not a choice(its not there)

could use my backup...but only one i have is the unrooted backup

What i have done to try and fix it.

Thought it was the gmail app. so i deleted it and since i cant re-download from market i got an apk and ran it...crashed

tried from youtube(log in) "there was a problem authenticating"

Did i do something wrong here, and have to redo everything like reflashing gapps etc? or is this a easy fix?

This has been mentioned several times in the past few pages, you need to flash gapps after flashing BACKside ROM (most of the time)

New BACKside-IHO is ready:
BACKside-IHO-VM670-09282011.zip
md5 a3b6373829be1bbf773a33d4bb13f670

GreenMachineTheme:
GreenMachineTheme-09282011.zip

Added the 2d engine optimizations, most system ui elements should be smoother now, fixed the center clock being overlayed by notifications, added 6th band to equalizer, added easter egg graphics to thank Blarf, BobZhome, and the users (find them same place as aosp and cm easter eggs).

1) Download the newest build, and GreenMachineTheme zip if you like, and place them on your sdcard

2) Boot into recovery and make a backup (imho, not optional )

3) Wipe cache and dalvik cache

4) Flash the BACKside-IHO zip file

5) Flash the GreenMachineTheme (optional)

6) Reboot and enjoy"

This maybe a noob question, but let's say if I ever decided to sell the optimus v, would it be possible to clear the esn and have a new person re-activate the phone with a new account with this rom, or would I now be stuck with it? lol.

Don't use zip themer, instead, install the. Apk like you would with a normal app, and then open theme chooser, and select the theme. Theme chooser should be in your app drawer, it comes preinstalled with this rom.

You would have to flash it back to stock to activate it on another account.

Install the rover apk if you haven't already then go into the theme app and select the rover theme you will get an error select use anyway

With Virgin Mobile, you just flash back to stock, call VM customer service, and they tell you when to use the Activate option. The Activate option is only available on the Frito based ROMs.

Ah c'mon, you could make the feedback sound for touching the screen be a crunch sound. And in my next build I'm going to add smells, do you like the chili flavor best?

Default Data2Ext vs App2SD

I've been dying to flash the new rom even more so now with the UI improvements. Was wondering if there would be complications trying to use data2ext over app2sd. I was curious to the differences and if it would be possible to continue to use data2ext since I believe app2sd is already implemented on the build / Bob's kernel.

And to my understanding its one or the other but I wasn't 100%

Does data2ext work the same way as link2sd?

Here's a small problem I've noticed for a long time. In the Facebook app, when you go to your friends list and scroll by letter, the transparency effect on the popup letter is scrambled. This also happens in other apps that use a transparency effect.

There is still one issue with the center clock, icon overlap.
notifications no longer overlap which is good. I stumbled upon it while updating my apps. Here's a screen shot to help.

And yes, this is with the latest build.
I believe you just need to extend the barrier to fix this issue.

I tried the Rover.apk . Everything was hard to see in good light, the battery % I had to really strain to see the small sysmbol, and the other symbols including those in the pulldown were lacking as well. I think I'll stick with JerryScripts Green Machine Theme, it's the easiest to see in good light or bad.

Now you got me craving Frito pie. And its 12:25 PM Florida Time. I think I might have to make a RUN to Wally World to get the much need main ingredient. Now I'm starting to get so hungry with this talk of food my belly is starting to think my throat's been cut.

why bother selling it, it's selling for new at Best Buy $99 now, if you sell it, it'd be less than that, then there are fees & other stuff. Might as well keep it as a wifi phone or ereader or portable gaming device.

That is an issue that cropped up due to commits in the CM7 source tree about a month ago. To be honest, I'm not sure which commit caused it, so it's proving hard to track down.

I'll have to look into the linearlayout. I've created a linearlayout for the clock alone, which seems to be interfering with the groupings. I think I can fix it by adding another linearlayout to group them all together, but it will take some time to test out, each change takes about an hour to build, flash and test, assuming there are no errors in my code.

I wondered why that would happen. It's especially visible in Pulse newsreader. I use this app everyday and sometimes I can barely tell what the headlines say. Hopefully, you'll find the culprit soon.

I seem to not have that transparency glitch problem. Is anyone else having it?
I mean I'm not complaining lol bit maybe we could see hoe many have it versus how many don't, and come up with a solution for it.

Jerry,

Any ideas on how to get Groove IP working with this ROM? Yes, it's still screwed up

Some people say GrooveIP works for them on this ROM, others say it doesn't. I'm not sure what the issue is, and the GrooveIP devs and Blarf don't know what the issue is either. Sorry I can't be more helpful on this one.
