tying to install build 11/09 but it keeps on freezing at the boot animation ... cleared cach and davick cach but keeps on freezing .. any ideas .. ???
Sounds like you might have a corrupt download. I would try re-downloading the ROM, then try reflashing it.
If this is your first time flashing the ROM, be sure to do a backup and then wipe cache and dalvik cache, and format boot, system, data, and cache. Then reflash the redownloaded ROM zip file.
While attempting to try out other ROMs today, I couldn't get my Link2SD to work properly. I eventually gave up and restored my last ROM from clockwork recovery and now I am all recovered. Except that I still can't get Link2SD to work and all of my apps are not showing up. I also can't install them from my computer because it says they are already installed on my phone. I tried to partition the card again and the same message shows up "Mount script error. Mount script cannot be created. mount:mounting/dev/block/vold/179:2 on /data/sdext2 failed: I/O error." Any one else having this problem and if so how is it fixed?

I kept getting the same mount script error. I randomly tried creating the script after rebooting while in airplane mode. I don't know why, but it worked. I use FAT32 for my 2nd partition.

Go into recovery, backup and recover, advanced recover, choose the same recovery u just used, then choose sd-ext. That should recover your links. Worked for me at least.
Does anyone know how to move apps to a new SD card? Most of the guides I see aren't really helpful. I have paid and free apps. Copying the data from the old sd card to the new gave me an "application not installed" error.
Would it be best to use TitaniumBackup or can I make a recovery image and then restore using the new SD card?

This didn't work either. What is everyones restore process? Here is what I did:
When it's all booted up, my page layouts are all saved but they are just icons to nothing. There are no apps. I tried to download an app from the market on my computer, but I wasn't able to because the install button was grayed out. When I look at an application info for instance the market app, everything is grayed out, the Force stop button, cancel, clear data, move to sd card and clear cache. Also the icon is a Android folder with an SD symbol over top of it and the name is com.android.vending.
I'll probably just end up flashing the ROM again and reloading everything like it's a new phone but if anyone has a fix I would much rather just fix it. Thanks for any replies!
I know the various 2sd scripts are alluring, but in my experience, they are too much trouble when upgrading or changing ROMs.
I again offer TitaniumBackup as a solution. Use this method combined with a dropbox account, and you can have virtually unlimited storage space with no issues when flashing a new/upgraded ROM.
1) Go thru your apps and determine which ones you haven't used in a week
2) Use Titanium Backup (or a similar app) to back up those apps+data
3) Use Titanium Backup to uninstall those apps
4) When you need to use the app, restore it via Titanium Backup, takes less than 30 secs
5) When finished using it, if you don't intend to use it again soon, repeat steps 1-3
Having to restore an app to use it may seem like a pita, but if it's an app you only use once a week at most, is it really such an inconvenience?
Combine this with storing the backups in a dropbox account (adds another 30 seconds to restoring due to redownloading), and you have virtually unlimited storage space, with no tricky scripts possibly erroring out.
So you recommend not to use 2SD? I was just manually moving apps to the SD beforehand without any problem. Seems like link2SD has only brought me problems. That may be because I don't know what I'm doing so I might be better off just keeping it simple. Thanks anyway, I'm just going to flash again and get titanium backup to restore my apps and I should be all set.
I've noticed a few bugs lately
1) when listening to.music and get a text sometimes it will.suddenly.get quiet until another text is received.
2)while in a call.you.must go volume up to play correct shown level.
3) I've been getting a worse battery.life (no new apps installed besides stock,to confirm)
4) my phone will randomly reboot
5) makret refuses to download sometimes
Thoes are.the only.bugs I have noticed though
and some awesome features would be
1) music app would be awesome if there were some.customization features
2) if the bottom lights would light up as an led would for notification
3) if the status bar could be changed colors
4) the bootloader option was nice in the reboot menu
5) a push notification for backside updates
6) the.radio to work lol
just some sugestions I was gonna try it but.I don't have time.till Thanksgiving

Bugs:
1) This is a known bug, and is common to alot of phones. Unfortunately it's a very hard bug to track down.
2) See 1
3) The post directly above yours noticed exactly the opposite, much better battery life. This is not a ROM issue, it's either caused by changes in your usage, or a change in the cell signal quality where you are at that time. It could be caused by a bad flash or restoring system apps or system data, but that is not a common issue.
4) Random reboots require logcat/dmesg output to debug. Post it to pastebin, then post the link here and I'll try to see what your issue is.
5) The Market issues are due to the recent versions of the Market app 90% of the time. If you are getting insufficient space messages, there are steps you can take to help. If it's a signing issue (invalid package), you have to uninstall the app in question and then reinstall it.
Features:
1) The music app is a google app, we cannot alter it, it is considered proprietary. You can theme it yourself using apkmanager.
2) There are apps, and a thread in the xda forums about notification lights for the Optimus V. Tasker is the key.
3) The status bar background is an image file, not easily changed on-the-fly. You can change it to whatever color you like using UOT Kitchen.
4) I removed the bootloader option because 95% of users will never need to go into the bootloader, and they shouldn't. The 5% who understand the bootloader know how to get into it manually. I did this mainly to stop noobs from messing up their phone and asking us to fix it.
5) I'm working on my update notification app, I just released the first version with the last build. Unfortunately I left a very stupid bug in it, "<" instead of ">", so it currently always thinks an update is available. I plan on releasing a fixed version with my next build, and am considering push notifications as an option (though they always affect battery life, so I haven't decided).
6) Some of the brightest minds to work on our phone have given up getting the FM radio to work. It appears our hardware is not set up for it, even though the specs do have the capability.
I've been loving my phone since using your ROM for the last month! Way better than stock. Regarding push notifications, if it is going to decrease battery life I for one vote not to have it. I need all the battery life I can get!
Thanks!!

No, you can dislike bands and albums by repeatedly thumbsdowning the songs belonging to said band/album. And you can dislike genres by NOT making a station for said genre.

Anyone else having problems installing the new google music app? I have no problem installing it on my cm7 hp touchpad, but have tried multiple times on my lg (getting "insufficient space" or "invalid package" messages even though I have been to install larger apps). I haven't installed google music before as far as I know. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tried this, but neither music file was in the Android\data folder.
Any other ideas I can try so I can use Google Music? I dread the idea of wiping everything and doing a clean install. I will if need be though.
Has anyone been getting ALOT of force closes with the 11-10 build? Its been working fine for me up until today. I can't give you info on what is force closing because it pops up and disappears right away, but I haven't installed anything new lately. I've had some fc issues with my launcher when I was overclocked but I rebooted and haven't messed with any of the performance settings since reboot. The launcher fC's have stopped, but I still get that "phantom" one that doesn't even let me press a button before it goes away.
If I need more info, lemme know and I'll get back once i'm on my break tonight.

Weddle,
I haven't had any FC's with this latest build, but I can tell you what I would do if in your shoes (if there was no way to catch log files that would tell me what was causing the FC's).
First I would want to rule out any app issues. I would back up everything (including the SD card to my PC hard drive) and then format the SD card. I would then do a completely clean install (total wipe like you are coming from another rom) of BACKside. The only thing I would do then is Sync my Google account. I wouldn't install any new apps on my phone (with the exception of default apps that need to be updated via the Market). I would run the phone just like that for a few days to see if I had any FC's. If I did, then I would take it one step further and unroot the phone putting it back to factory default. If it still has FC's issues, then you know its the phone itself.

Tia!
If it just started happening, then it's most likely not ROM related. If you can give us any more information as to what's happening before the FC, we might be able to help. With what you've told us so far, it could be anything.

Sorry I was so vague, I was at work...also, i was wrong when i said i hadnt installed anything. I noticed that my google music wasnt the most recent but couldnt update it so i searched and d/l'd google music beta from the market. That gave me two google music apps on my phone which i thought was weird so i uninstalled the older one. I opened the new music app and it force closed once, but thepopup disappeared before i could click on it...apparently thats been happening since yesterday and indidnt notice it till earlier.
anyways...an uninstall and reinstall fixed that issue from what i can tell atm.
Sorry so long winded

Glad you got it fixed. The Google Music app has to be replaced by:
1- Manage Applications>> Music>> Clear cache>> Clear data>> Force close
2- Use a root capable file explorer, rename original music.apk to music.apk.bak
3- Copy new music.apk to the same folder, and set permissions identical to the old
4- Reboot recovery and wipe cache/dalvik (especially dalvik in this case)
5- Reboot, and enjoy

Im pretty sure i remember reading about that in a previous post now that you put it up again -__-
Should i clear my cache/dalvik just in case?

Reason: spelling/huge tablet landscape keyboard
Yes, the old music apk still has some things stored in cache, and the dalvik cache builds itself based on installed apps. If you are replacing an app in a non-standard way, then you always will need to wipe cache and dalvik cache to insure there are no artifacts left over from the previous version.

Thanks again!
Amazingly easy to do. I followed the instructions exactly as written and it was painless. Phone has been going non stop for an hour, trying to make sure everything works, no problems thus far.
A BIG THANKS to JerryScript and everyone else that had a hand in all the different pieces of this tutorial and/or files. You guys have made me very happy with my OV.

Just an update after a full day in the life of....
Still rockin'!!! Battery life has been unbelievable. Usually lasts all day, but didnt charge it overnight as i usually do, still holding 20%.
Changed from Green Machine to The Blues, not that that bit of info is important to you guys, but, it is a testament to the fact that you guys did a good job of teaching me how to make changes without problems. I appreciate that.
Have the CPU set to 864/480 interactive and it is blazing fast, waiting for it to "randomly restart" to set it back a couple of steps...lol.
Overall, it has been a "WOW" experience. I have not enjoyed this phone this much since I got it in June. Everything is moving quick and super smooth. All of those old Virgin Mobile Apps are gone finally. It finally feels like "MY PHONE".
side note - I was having trouble using apps I had purchased from Amazon before the root. Simple fix, deleted Amazon Appstore App, reinstalled and logged in. Everything was back as it should be. Just incase anyone else is having a problem with previously purchased amazon apps.

As I understand it, the OV has no tuner for FM. I just use Tune In Radio, does the job well enough plus I can listen to Podcasts with it.
The radio hardware included with the OV does have FM specs, but doesn't appear to be hardwired. No antennae hook-up to be found, and there may be some sort of switch engineered in that has not been enabled (a resistor, or jumper, etc). Blarf spent a few weeks attempting to get it to work via software before opening up his phone and determining to the best of his knowledge that the FM tuner cannot be enabled.
(I'm sure he wouldn't mind being proven wrong )

Hey Jerry, I wanted to ask, is there a possibility we just didnt have the right driver in our kernel, or the kernel wasnt set up for the FM tuner? Just a thought. Id like to be the first to get this working haha. Anyways, I got my build environment set up. Fixed all the errors got a build going, i want to say thanks for that by the way. I am now moving to ICS AOSP though, keeping gingerbread on a flashdrive to save time. I got ICS to boot, standard kernel, but i got to find or build a driver for the GPU for hardware accel.. If you ever need any help, let me know. for a newb, lol, i have learned alot in the last week

The VM670 has no radio hardware.
Actually, I just looked at my conf file and it still has:
CONFIG_RADIO_ADAPTERS=y
from when I was testing to see if the radio would work.
So the current kernel is set up for radio, so your welcomed to build and test

You should collaborate with others to try to build ICS for Optimus V here:
I agree, bigsupersquid and asadullah, have made some good progress, and judging from the commits to bob's repo he is cooking away too. You might be able to get farther in your build with some of what they have posted, and I'm sure that we can all benefit from what you've discovered. Let us know your progress, and thanks for offering to help out!

search the optimus s section at android central for zefie's work with the fm radio if you want, too; he tried quite a while to get it working, and gave up as well. The OS and OV have identical hardware boards.
when you say got ics to boot, how far do you mean? come on over to the ac thread and elaborate!
I started a special new thread just for ICS building.
my ics generic build boot loops at trying to start power manager (just after system server comes to life.) it hangs a lot sooner if I drop in proprietary files.

Hey Jerry,
I noticed Bob added a custom carrier label option in his status bar tweak settings. Will we be getting this also in your next build? Would be kinda cool to change the text like that!
Oh, I finally got Google Music. I ended up wiping and re-flashing, and then it installed as it should. Googles been uploading my music since yesterday.. 2,191 out of 8,118 songs (I have another TB hard drive full of music but haven't put it in my pc yet!). Dang slow lol.

I only uploaded 18 or so songs and it took like half an hour. It definitely is slow, but hey maybe youll get to listen to music with it sometime before the new year! Lol
