Darn it. My market is starting to come up with the package file is invalid error on certain apps. It was working for a while thanks to Michael123's post which uses terminal emulator and the following script:

su
# cd /cache
# mv download download.old
# mkdir -p /sdcard/cache/download
# ln -s /sdcard/cache/download download

Not really sure what else to do. I'd love to know that I can use that extra 80mb I have.

One more time, I offer the solution of TitaniumBackup to solve the Market insufficient space error.
1- Use the Integrate dalvik into system option (under menu--more).
Note- you must undo dalvik integration before flashing an updated ROM!
2- Determine which apps you use less than once a week, back them up with TB, then uninstall them till needed (this gives your virtually unlimited storage space, with a once a week or so pita of having to restore a needed app).

I also HIGHLY suggest people start complaining to Google and the Market about these issues, since it occurs on many phones, not just the OV.

Hi,
Thank you Jerry. I couldn't find the threads specifically that I was asking about, but I have managed to figure out how to remove the bloatware and how to move apps to SD. I am experimenting with the freeze function in link2sd since the free version of Titanium won't freeze. I think it will keep apps from starting automatically thus reducing cpu demand which increases speed and battery life. I've turned almost all programs off in XP until I want them which has made XP run very fast and extremely stable (its been several months since a reboot). Everything has a learning curve. Here I go again veering of the subject...sorry

Default Screen Won't Blank When Charging

BACKside-IHO-VM670-01102012, upgraded from BACKside-IHO-VM670-12212011, cache and dalvik cache wiped before upgrade.
No additional themes.
Phone powered ON when charging.

I notice that after my upgrade to the BACKside build above my OV screen never completely blanks when charging. With 12212011 it used to come on full brightness when charger attached, and then go blank after a minute.

Now it comes on to full brightness as before, but only drops back to "dim" mode. The lock screen is still clearly visible, albeit dimmer. It never blanks.

Is screen "burn in" an issue with these phones?

My phone does go black during charging, strange that yours never does.

No worries though, screen burn in is pretty much non-existent in modern displays. I'm pretty sure it only affected CRT displays.

Yes, crt and plasma displays are susceptible to burn in. Lcd displays (like our phones) aren't.

Why is this? I didn't do this when I updated, and I haven't noticed any problems.

Yes it does. Just make sure you root and flash the correct recovery and make a backup before flashing this ROM

As much as I hate blue and love green, a Blue Machine Theme would go great with my Doctor Who theme.

Default Square Up not working with Backside ROM

Help,

Is anyone running BACKside-IHO-VM670-01102012 and gapps-gb-20110828-signed and using the Square Up credit card app? After installing this ROM and gapps, I can't get Square Up to read a credit card. Square Up starts like it should and recognises the reader when it is plugged into the headphone jack like it should, but does not read credit cards. When I swipe a card, it does nothing. When I use the orig Froyo 2.2.2 that is rooted and heavily tweeked (most everything is moved to SD or removed or frozen), it works fine: vibrates as it reads. I haven't done any tweeking on CM7 except turned key press sounds and haptic feedback off. Any ideas out there?

Thanks,
Gerald

I assume that reader uses the headset mic (don't know how else it would work). Unfortunately, the headset mic is a known issue with IHO atm. We are working on it, but don't have it 100% yet.

Actually Corsair is a blue theme I'd done up by request. I'll have to update it, when Peanut takes a nap later today.

Hi Jerry,
Thank you for your quick reply. I really like the Backside ROM, but for now I will have to try something else. I see there is only a couple other ROMs not based on IHO like BobZhome's CM7.2.0 RC0-BobZ and Leslie Ann's Harmonia v.2.03. The gapps I used with the Backside ROM, will it work on Harmonia or is there one just for it like CM7.2.0 RC0-BobZ uses gapps-gb-20110613-BobZhome-v2? Or are both compatable with the gapps I used with Backside?
I know you are real busy, but is there some way you can let me know when the mic issue is fixed? I tried CM7.2.0 RC0-BobZ before getting Backside to work and just didn't care for the interface.
Also, how do you add your own ring tones in Backside or others?
Thanks,
Gerald

BobZhome and Harmonia are both also based on IHO. I don't know of any Gingerbread based ROM that has a working headset mic 100%. If you need to use that appliance, you will probably have to revert to a Froyo based ROM for now. I would recommend Bumblebee.

Once we have the headset mic issues worked out, we will post the details here.

I've looked at a bunch of blue themes and it would have to be Green Machine 100% except for the color for me to change (I love the status bar charge icon and the swirl when it is thinking). I really like GMT a lot and am only considering a swap for the colors.

Hi Jerry,
Thank you very much for your time, expertise and the reccomendation. I installed BumbleBee and the Square Up app works like it should plus I am able to do a lot of tweeking the phone to suit me.
I will keep watch for Backside updates as I do prefer the feel of it.
Thanks,
Gerald

Need some help pre-testing current builds before I release the next one. I'm working on the headset issues, button and mic. I seem to have the button issues completely fixed, and the mic is working fine with the stock LGE headset, but still buggy with non-mic headsets, have to choose speaker phone for those.

Please test the following on a current build using stock LGE headset:

  1. Plug in headset - status bar icon appears, media volume appears
  2. Press headset button - Music starts, press again for music stop
  3. Double-Press headset button (music playing)- Music skips to next selection
  4. Long press headset button (music playing) - Music app opens on phone
  5. Press headset button (phone ringing) - Answers call
  6. Press headset button (during call) - Mutes and unmutes mic
  7. Long press headset button (during call) - Ends call
  8. Unplug headset - status bar icon goes away
I believe that is all the behaviors expected, please test and post results.

The headset mic should work with the stock LGE headset. With a non-mic headset, only the speaker phone works (trying to get hands-free working right).

Please let me know if the above behavior works on current builds using various devices (stock LGE headset, non-mic headset, hands-free devices, etc). Please post which headset you tested with.

Thanks to anyone with the time to test.

Do you mean head phones when you say non mic headset? If so the icon shows, volume appears and even you disconnect icon goes away and volume shows again. Tried on 4 different headphones. That's just what I've seen on a day to day basis.

The ear headset that comes with a phone and has a button does have a mic, it's on the back of the button box.

To early to call, but the rest of the options work great with my single earpiece headset. You are off the chain JerryScript!

Skull candy headphones, with buttons, but no mic, all work
will try my Sony headphones with secondary volume wheel and no mic.

Oh, and location settings (GPS and location over wireless) do not stick after selecting and leaving the sub menu.

Sony headphones work just like any other non mic non button headphones, but must use speaker phone during call, no audio through head phones while on speaker phone, and while not on speaker phone, you can hear audio through headphones, but you can't speak using phone mic.

Try clearing defaults on the stock music app, then open the new Google Music. I imagine it's based on which is the default music app.

I checked that first and there were no defaults set.

It could be that the Google music app isn't considered a music player, but instead a service. So there would be no defaults to set. I could be wrong though.

Thanks,
Gerald
All gb(in file name) Gapps are compatible with IHO rom's. My "gapps-gb-20110613-BobZhome-v2" is the old style(non windows looking) market locked in(it won't update). I didn't like the google books, so I removed it and made v2.

Just to clarify so I know I'm understanding correctly... if I flash your Gapps on Jerry's IHO, I can have the old green Market back? If so, I can go into recovery and make a backup, then flash your Gapps and that's it?

I wiped files and dalvik before flashing, it seemed to install just fine. I noticed that I don't seem to get a battery level indicator, should I re-wipe and flash or is there a simple fix?

Yes, it is the old green market
It may update if you flash it over a new Gapps, since the new Gapps has installed the updater.

Make sure you don't have a special setting for the battery display under your cyogenmod settings. You should have the same as in the screen shot
