Not a whole lot of difference really. I've been concentrating on the os while BobZhome has done some awesome work on the kernel. If you pull his git, look for the chaos config file, that's the one he uses to build for the OV.

Jerry, this latest build is lightning fast compared to the build I updated from (11/21, I think). It also seems to be a lot less power hungry. Very happy with what you have done with this. Keeps me on the OV.

Cheers.

New build is up:

Download via the BacksideUpdater

or

BACKside-IHO-VM670-01312012.zip
md5sum 46b531b924a5042cb121d521ff851c7f

GreenMachineTheme-01312012.zip

Changes:
-- Added Pedlar's CMBootanimation chooser to Settings>>CyanogenMod settings>>Interface>>Bootanimation
-- Added two additional bootanimations to /system/media for use with the bootanimation chooser
-- Update to BobZhome's kernel v3.7 with support for a2sd swap and BT HID, Thanks Bob!
-- BacksideUpdater updated with option to check any downloaded file, option to delete bad download before trying again (prevents download renaming such as file.zip becoming file-1.zip), and updated gui elements

The bootanimation chooser will allow you to preview, change, or reset the bootanimation to default. I switched to my infamous bootanimation as default, and included the CyanogenMod and particle bootanimations as well in the system/media folder.

The BacksideUpdater will now automatically download the manifest when you open the app now. There is a new button at the bottom of the screen that will allow you to check any file against the manifest's md5sum. If the md5 is bad, you have the option to delete the corrupt file and redownload, or to delete the file manually. I also added progress spinners so it doesn't appear as if the app has frozen while performing it's background tasks. Hope you like the new gui elements!

Thanks to Blarf, BobZhome, mrg666, tdmcode, LeslieAnn, thekraven, kermikalelite, Whyzor, bigsupersquid, the CM team, the AOSP team, and a whole lot more!

Bluetooth hid support? I thought that was already present. Maybe I won't need Bluekeyboard JP anymore... Will test and post results later.

I had a typo in the manifest, it's fixed now so everyone else should be able to see the update via the BacksideUpdater. Still working the kinks out of the manifest.

Bob saw your posts about the issues with the keyboard, went back through his sauce and realized he left HID out sometime in the past month or so. He added it back in, so hopefully you won't have issues anymore!

BTW- check out the new easter egg under model, there's a very cute model in there!

I had to disconnect, unpair, and check/uncheck every option. Then I scanned, long pressed the menu item for the keyboard, then as soon as I choose pair, I fast click the menu again before it says disconnected again. Then I'm able to enter 1234 in the phone and on the keyboard. Give it a moment, and it's working fine.

Gotta see about a commit I saw to gerrit for extending the BT connection timeout!

Anyone know how to backup and restore filters in titanium backup when doing a clean install. I made a filter but when I did a clean install it was gone.

I'm taking about Auto-sync TB settings, first option listed. Not sure if it's pro only or not.

Quicksilver is now up to date. I've included a couple of extra boot animations this time round, for the new boot anim changer (which works brilliantly, by the way).

What is the path to the boot animations?

I found it nevermind.. system/media

wait, I tap on the zip (to preview) tap ok, then it just takes me back to the interface menu?

ok sorry, you have to have boot animations enabled in the first place, I didn't, so I unticked the (disable) and voila. Cool!

I have flashed the new 01312012 build. Ran into an issue with the boot animation changer in the CM7 settings. When I try to view or change an animation, I got FC's. It's not the biggest issue for me since I use Metamorph to flash my boot animation, but I figured I throw it out there.

New build is working flawlessly so far, boot animation changer is working, updater worked perfectly, very smooth and responsive, so far no errors to report. Keep up the good work!

I would guess then using the Metamorph app to theme is what borked the changer for me. Again, no biggy.

That's always a possibility, are you making sure that when you are trying to change the boot animation, that you're choosing a bootanimation.zip file?

Well when I hit "Change a boot animation" or "Preview a boot animation" it FC's. Most likely because I used that app (Metamorph) to theme the whole system framework.

The bootanimation changer requires the default file manager as well.

So does the manual selection option in the updater.

Great new build, thanks! btw, got the usb storage to work, thanks.

For some reason i can't find the system/media folder to choose an animation, anyone know if it should be in the root of the sd card, or inside another folder?

When the file manager opens, click the home icon to switch to the root of the file system, then you can select system/media.

New ROM is working great so far, but I'm still having trouble with one thing that has been bugging me since the last 5-6 builds.

Jerry, I think I mentioned this to you before. In the notification power widget when toggling either my sound modes or brightness levels, it's way glitchy. It usually takes me a few taps to get it "warmed up". On the first press of the brightness control which I have set to 100%/dim, it usually does nothing. I have to tap it a few times to where it will function normally. The same goes when I select sound modes for my ringer.

Not a big deal and something I've learned to live with over the past few months. Just was hoping you or someone else might have a suggestion to help remedy this.

Jerry, I'm working on my first theme in the kitchen. Is the black text in these submenus (popups?) coded into BACKside? If so, is there a way I can change it in settings. I can find nothing in the kitchen that changes that.

You should be able to in the kitchen. Look under the popup tab, there should be text color options.

I have the same problem as Omensedge, when I use the status bar to adjust the brightness, it works when it wants to. Which isn't often.

I don't believe you can change the text color on popup windows in UOT yet. You might be able to do smali edits. I'll look into making it an option in the future. I'm currently working on a set of GUIs for making theme type changes. The first one will be a mock up of the notification drop-down and status bar, allowing you to click on any element to customize it. I'll try to do the same for popups and other GUI elements as well.

For the status bar brightness control, are you referring to swipe to adjust brightness or the Power Control Widget? The swipe to adjust requires a half second delay before you move your finger. It's working on a touch-intercept code block, and it has to be sure you aren't swiping down or clicking on a status bar button (there are clickable ones, just not on most phones, it's mainly for tablets). Long press the status bar till you see a brightness change, then swipe left/right to change brightness. If you are referring to the Power Control Widget's buttons, I'll have to look into it, I don't use it on the dropdown, I keep it on a home screen.

Yeah, I was swiping. Thanks for the info. To many convenient gui's for theme elements and you'll make us themers obsolete!

Unless he makes an option to export the theme changes on the phone, for others to use that are too lazy, so it would be like having the kitchen built into your phone.

Serious noob question. The 1/25 build was my first non-stock ROM. I installed The Blues as my theme. Since I want to keep The Blues, should I wait until there is a 1/31 The Blues before installing the 1/31 build?

Also, when I do install the new build, will all my app icons still be in the same order on the home screens, or will I have to move them again? I have them backed up with Titanium, but I didn't know if they would just transfer over, etc.

Thanks.

Yes, each theme needs to be updated for the rom. Yes, your homescreen layout will be preserved.

Hmm, I think there needs to be an app for that, if there isn't already.
A preferences backup that can be shared, good idea.

How feasible is an option to select your preferred file manager?

Oh, by the way, the bluetooth keyboard doesn't work with the new kernel at all. I officially give up on that.

If you are referring to selecting it to be used with my mods, not very, the file manager needs to follow the open intents, so that I can access the appropriate intent in an action with request call. I could write code that checked for every known intent of every known file manager, but you know I won't be doing that.

Did you see my post above about how I got my keyboard working on the new kernel?

I kind of figured. That's not a big deal, though. As for the keyboard, yes, that's the only way I got it to pair. The thing is, after pairing it just doesn't seem to do anything. BlueKeyboard JP doesn't work now, and even though it shows as a connected HID device it doesn't show up as an input method. I know some members have been following my little bt keyboard saga. I think the keyboard I ordered must be very different from yours, as I've never been able to recreate your results. I can't find the name of the manufacturer anywhere, and support is nonexistent. So the moral of the story here is don't buy cheap Chinese electronics if you expect reliability.

After I pair it, I just use it, I don't have to use any third party apps. Have you tried it without any BT apps?

Yup, tried that first. I remember you saying that you didn't need any apps, so I gave it a shot. The function keys on yours are labeled in red, correct? Mine are blue, that's what makes me think mine might need a driver. I'll keep plugging away at it, it's not a deal breaker. I just don't like losing arguments with technology.

Downloaded and installed latest. Would it be possible for the app to delete previous versions in the download folder? As an option even?

That's kinda built in, in a round-about sorta way. Press the I've Already Downloaded button, select the old version, and when it comes up as a bad md5 match, select delete. When the download page opens, just press back.

Once you enter the file selector, you are inside of the OI File Manager, and you can long press on files to copy/move/delete/rename/etc. Pressing back will bring you back to the updater.

The next version has some gui changes that should make things a bit more intuitive (elements will only show when needed, and manual options are moved to the new menu_key menu, along with show changelog and exit).

Since there haven't been any bug reports with the updater so far, so I'll be extending the manifest to support multiple versions next, then multiple ROMs, then accessory packages.

You can delete previous builds using the file manager.
I myself prefer to keep a copy of all builds, not sure why, but I do.

I forgot to post this when I posted the new build with the bootanimation chooser. Here are a few threads with lots of bootanimations to try. Some may need to be resized. You don't need the flashable (cwm) versions with the bootanimation choooser, just download the bootanimation zip files and rename as you like to whatever.zip.

Guess I should get downloading!
Now if only there was a way to 'shuffle' the boot animations, so it would be a random different animation every boot.
