Default Stuck in ClockworkMod Recovery without a Backup after System Wipe

I have virgin mobile LG vm670, rooted it with gingerbreak and then installed clockworkmod.

I was forced to flash a custom rom that I thought was compatible with the phone. I can fulling navigate and select things just fine.

I was trying to do a factory reset on the phone and wiped everything clean and I never did a backup.

I have tried flashing cyanogenmod, and even tried going back to a completely stock rom without any luck.

I assume it must be cause I'm running ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7 unless someone can confirm this recovery is compatible.

I noticed ADB works and so I tried flashing a new recovery and I can't get SU to work in shell. If my current recovery won't flash anything and I can't get superuser access is there any other way of flashing the correct recovery?

If someone could help me out that would be wonderful.

I am more familiar with flashing and programming Samsung & HTC Phones.

Samsung you can always fix your mess ups with odin. HTC has HBOOT & Fastboot commands.

What backdoors are there for LG phones when you're pretty much soft bricked???

Is there any RUU or anything like that??? I tried installing the latest update.zip and still no luck.

Read this ... Do not Factory Reset your Rooted Phone

Use the Xonia. Zip link from here [FIX]Black screen with custom recovery and custom roms - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com
Go to the bottom of the first post to get the xonia zip.

Then you should go to the sticky^ all things root guide and get either the touch screen recovery or the bob zohm ( vm670nh-recovery.image) they are a better choice for our phone.

if i do a factory reset, i always do within cwm. but this badblue is right. and always do a backup. and always make sure to have 400-600 mb free for a backup, on sd card, i have ran into the problem on small sdcards running out of space. oops, learned that lesson the hard way.

i go it to flash the new recovery and then I tried installing the CM 9 rom and everything looked good now its just stuck on the all black boot screen with LG and there's no animation or anything. I tried taking the battery out and powering on holding home and volume down and it did like an automated stock recovery factory reset without any choices. It boots back up and is just at a solid LG screen.

I tried connecting to it via ADB and reads the devices MEID and says offline.

How do I make it so its online again over ADB or am i pretty much screwed?

Explain all the steps you took to install the CM9 ROM, and which one you chose.

Let us know what you wiped and formatted in the recovery. Also let us know which recovery you used (I'm assuming it was the Xionia which isn't very good with CM9 ROMs).
Xionia really is only good for Froyo ROM's
The Touchscreen Recovery and the BobZhome modified ClockworkMod recovery (VM670NH_recovery.img) will work just fine.

When armed with this info I will be able to determine the best course of action.

Here's a link to a video I made trying to hold volume down and home while powering on.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/62t2qzmhp1mmjex/VIDEO0035-0.mp4

here's a picture of all the files that I have stored on my SD Card.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hyfil2uwuuo5etv/Untitled-1.jpg

I think I may have tried installing one the of the stock recoveries but it didn't do anything and so i installed VM670NH_recovery then I tried putting the CM9.1.0 rom and now it just does what you see in the video above.

Do you have the LG USB drivers for the Optimus V installed on a computer?
Do you have the adb.exe (found in the SDK/platform-tools folder) in the computers system path?

We might be able to install the Xionia recovery on the phone (this will fix a recovery loop), if you still have root. If that goes well then we can put the VM670NH_recovery.img on the phone. From there it's all down hill.
You will need to be able to give the phone shell commands thru the computer (the reason for the first two questions and root access).

That really didn't answer my Questions. What is the answer to those questions?

There very important.

If you have Android OS version 2.2.1 then fastboot commands will work. If anything other than that....no.

We can straighten it out, but the answers to the questions need to be yes.

If you plug your phone into the computer and type in a command prompt:
adb devices
and it shows a serial number after, then you have the proper path to the adb.exe. You also need to have the USB drivers installed in order for this to work, as well as to give it shell commands.

If you have all these things installed properly, and you still get no output with: adb devices
then you will need to get the phone into emergency mode and use the KDZ updater method to flash a stock ROM then re-root and install the proper recovery.

Why would CDMA Workshop work if i don't have LG Drivers installed???

with ADB DEVICES it says the serial number followed by offline, please look as images i have posted.

How do it change it to say online, ADB devices is the only thing that works. I can't do ADB USB or ADB ROOT or ADB SHELL it keeps saying device is offline.

Your OV is most likely not rooted. Gingerbreak doesn't work for the latest ZV9 update. See: [Guide] How to flash the ZV9 update: Step by step

Using CDMA workshop at this time is like putting the cart before the horse. First you must put the harness on the horse, then hitch the horse to the cart. Then we can travel forward.

We have a great deal of experience helping people with problems associated with flashing a Recovery that was not designed for our phone (I myself have well over a year of helping others with this phone).

If you would like our help, we need to follow the correct path that will lead to your phone working properly. This is just good trouble shooting skills in action.

So....If you would first make sure you have the LG Optimus V USB drivers installed on your PC (the harness), and make sure you have the path to the adb.exe set up properly (the hitch), so we can issue shell commands thru the Android SDK (the horse) to your phone (the cart).

The drivers: http://www.lg-phones.org/wp-content/uploads/LG-Optimus-V.zip after done installing (with phone unplugged from computer), reboot the computer (this install the two other drivers that might be necessary later), then plug phone in to finish the install.
Once that is done then go here: New pre-packaged ADB installation after install go all the way to the bottom of the instructions and click on the link that's just below the adb devices part (this will explain how to put the adb.exe into your system path manually). You need to do this to make sure the path is set properly as the enviro set utility doesn't work on all computers.

Note: if you have the android SDK already installed onto the root of the C: drive make sure you read the part about how to set the path, just to double check you did it correctly. This is very important and will make things a lot easier.
Once that is done then we can start using the reins (command prompt) to get the horse moving forward.

Wow! Your going to have to let your battery totally drain, dead. Plug USB cable into computer and just barely put USB into phone (Not enough to apply power). Then hold Back+ Camera+ Volume Down. Now push power and USB into phone. Timing is critical (Three hands help too). Let me know if this worked, and we'll go from there.
It looks like your going to have to use the KDZ updater method to fix the phone, which require's you to be in Emergency mode.
Do you have a fully charged spare battery?

ok i have it in emergency mode, best method i found to work without any timing what so ever and I was able to do it with one hand almost is without the battery, just hold volume down, camera, and back without the power button and just connect to usb cord it goes into emergency mode right away Im gonna try the KDZ thing it never worked before but i'm guessing its cause i didn't have emergency mode working

You should try sammyz's guide. It's made for the Optimus V specifically.

The fact that you where able to get it into emergency mode by just pulling the battery and not having to drain it is a good sign. Make sure you put it back in after getting into E mode.
I need to find sammyz's guide, as it supersede's the one in the All Things Root Guide sticky.

It actually goes into e-mode with only vol - and the return button only without battery. Won't work with battery though. uSB only, but once in e-mode I can put battery in just fine.

I have an Lg Optimus V.
I installed clockworkmod recovery using rom manager. There wasnt an option for V so i chose C or M thinkin it would work the same.
It wont boot up, just goes boots to clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.7 and it will not allowed me to select anything. The volume up button does nothing, the volume up button moves it up, the camera button does nothing, the voice button moves it down, none of the buttons are letting me select anything. my phone will not boot up so that i can put a different recovery on my sd card!

i downloaded the links in this post & now i just dont know what to do from here. i was finally able to get my phone into emergency mode. someone please help. I not exactly sure how to put in the command prompts

sometimes pressing Vol Down until its says back button unlocked fixes it, then you can at least use the power button for selecting things
