Default PRL Updates

What is the current VM PRL Version, does VM ever update PRL and is it an automatic or manual update? Is there way to update PRL without doing a SW Update?

I believe the PRL version depends on the VM phone:

61007 - version that came with most 3G phones
61008 - version that came with most earlier 4G-capable phones
61009 - version that came with recent 4G-capable phones

I've had my OV for nearly two years, and its PRL has never been updated by VM. I've been manually updating and using Sprint PRLs--currently at the latest version 60792.

Virgin makes a new prl for new phone when they are released, then never updates them.

My PRL is still 61007, is there a reason or benefit for changing it?

If they have new towers in your area you can change it and see what difference it makes. It can improve signal by recognizing more towers.

Thanks for the info, but i don't have a PC to change it anyway.

I never have any dropped calls, just slow 3g at times.

Hey guys, I can see from the referenced XDA thread that changing your PRL for this device does not require root, but since it does look quite outside of a regular user's wheelhouse, I've gone ahead and moved it to the all-things-root sub-forum.

Thanks!

Read the sticky on how to obtain your MSL code. That utility will allow you to easily write a prl code to the phone.
