Default Delay and keyboard and other performance tips

Hi, i just got my san francisco today and i was wondering if anyone else has to give a bit of a decent press to the screen for it to register a touch. Being a capacative touch screen i expected this but my old phone was capacative and didnt need this hard a press but it seems to be getting better the more i use it, maybe it just needed breaking in?

Also, i've just done a test. I had 15.01 on my phone, i just checked and i had 14.97 i've just turned it off and back on again and i have the same amount (14.97) but i saw my phone connect to the internet via the mobile network before it connected to my wireless internet. Is it possible its sending some data when it starts up? I know i can turn off the ability to access the internet but i'd rather not have to keep doing that.

Is there a way i can stop seperate apps, like Gmail, from fetching Data, and only have them do it when i want.

What good apps are there that are like task manager? Thanks.
