i have the nexus prime on orange Panther 30 IND 24 mth went for this one cos of the swappables , after a week of phoning customer services , i finally got an answer to my problem ITS NOT SUPPORTED phones 4 u are selling this handset with this contract so be advised it wont work , and there doesn't seem to be any immediate plans to make it
gutted
ok so it seems orange will hopefully get it officially, just not sure of the date. waiting game then :/
sounds not a bad idea actually waiting for a bit to get anymore bugs ironed out. i see the vol bug has officially been fixed now and new stock is on its way to the shops?
also flash will be there come december, so i am hoping orange will have it by january.
My contract with Orange is shortly available to renew too, I'm torn between S2 and Nexus, especially as S2 is getting ICS in the new year. The better screen on the Nexus is swaying me to that. Does anyone have any experience of both phones (not just handling in the shop) - any advice?
Couldn't be arsed waiting for Orange to get hold of it, if ever.
Called phones4U and ordered one, hopefully from new stock.
If you push them a bit they have some decent deals, managed to get free phone £32 pm 900 mins 3000 texts 1gb and £60 cashback.
What ya say to manage that? I couldn't even get them lower than £36 nevermind cash back >.< I must suck, I didn't take it though figured I got a stubbron bugger ;P

sounds like you got a arse. They offered the reduced line rental price right off the bat,
I asked if they could improve the deal, he 'went off to talk to a manager'. I think they just put me on hold for 3 mins while he picked his nose. He came back with the cash back offer, with hindsight I should have kept on pushing.
really? the two phones4u shops I went in both had stock and I've been given a delivery time of 3 - 5 days.
I order 23rd November, was told it would be with me in 2-3 days, called today, and was advised that they won't have it in till after new year, some shops have 2-3 in in stock, rest of orders will be after new year.
Very pi**ed of with phones 4 u, as stores won't budge on £36 per month for 900 mins txts and 1gb of web. They can't do the same deals as phone / web order.
Would be just as well swapping to another operator, not good since I've been with orange for 10 years .
I've had problems with Orange - customer service dreadful.
First, I was on the phone to them for 1½ hours. This was three calls in total, and included two disconnections (from a telecomms company!). Anyway, I received no contact within the agreed 48 hours so thought I'd use it as leverage against a good deal on an upgrade to the GNex.
Contacted Orange...
Or : "What phone are you after"?
Me : "Galaxy Nexus"
Or : "Do you mean the Galaxy Note"?
Me : "No, the Galaxy Nexus"
Or : "Well, we have the Galaxy S2 or the Galaxy Note"
Me : "No, I want the Galaxy Nexus"
Or : "We don't do that phone"
Me : "OK, thanks. I'll request a PAC next month and go with another provider then. Bye".
I suspect that the reason they have delayed its release, and it's already been mentioned here, is not because they want to make sure it runs and works on their network, but because they want to be sure that it works with all of their branding rubbish. Even if the branding wasn't too intrusive, there would always be the nagging feeling that I wasn't get the proper ICS experience.
I have two phones (mine and my partner's) on the same account and am hopeful that I can get a cracking deal on the Nexus on Orange. If not, then bye bye Orange.
What I would recommend is to not accept the first deal from any network. Go to them with an idea of how many minutes and texts you would use and wait for them to come with an offer and say "Don't need that many, and don't want to pay that much. What else can you do?" Always works for me.
I am hoping to get Samsung Nexus too through Orange as it's coming up to my upgrade in February.
Is is better than Samsung S 2?
I am hoping to haggle my contract this time, paying about £35, including insurance which is good so far. But hoping to get it smaller to £25! Need to practice.

Good luck with that one.....why not try for word peace after lunch.
I popped into the Orange shop today to enquire about this and they said they're getting it in "early January". Depends how much stock you want to put into an employee at the Covent Garden Orange shop really.
What are Orange like for upgrades in terms of offers? I only switched to them on my current contract.

I'm due for an upgrade already and holding out till it comes, letting my contract roll over month by month.
I queried when I was in my local Orange shop yesterday and they knew nothing. They did say that as we're the middle of nowhere (kinda), they always find out last.
They said the best place to try would be the website.

So... I'm actually nowhere near the end of my contract, but followed the link to the Orange online store and got asked if I wanted to chat with an online advisor...
Quote:
Welcome to Orange online chat. One of our advisors will be with you as soon as possible.
You're now chatting to Stacey. Stacey: Hello, you're chatting to Stacey. I am part of the dedicated Orange Online Sales Team. How can I help you with your new order? Stacey: Hi D-U-R-X: Hi Stacey Stacey: How are you? D-U-R-X: Fine thanks - hope you are too! Stacey: I'm fine. D-U-R-X: Already an orange customer, just after a bit of info if possible Stacey: Welcome to Orange. What are you looking for on our website today? Stacey: Yes please. Stacey: I appreciate that you are our valued existing customer and want to continue with our services. D-U-R-X: Will the Galaxy Nexus (as in the New Android 4.0 mobile phone) be coming to the Orange network? Stacey: Yes for sure. Stacey: Orange is looking forward this phone. Stacey: It will be available very soon. Stacey: However, I can not make any commitment on date. D-U-R-X: I have heard different answers from different people (including those who have been in to your stores), which is why I thought I'd ask Stacey: Yes. D-U-R-X: What would the delay be in getting it? I know that it is available on other networks Stacey: Honestly I'm also waiting for this phone however, it is completely depend on stock availability. Stacey: I'll take your feedback as suggestion. Stacey: We will try to implement as soon as possible. D-U-R-X: I understand. The phone has been out for a while now and I would have thought that Orange would want to be at the forefront of mobile technology and would release it straight away
I realise that Stacey could have been talking rubbish, just to try and fob me off, but thought I'd share!

To contradict other posts, according to Orange rep I spoke with today, if we want the G-Nex, it well need to be done via Carphone Warehouse out P4U. You'll be able to keep all the existing discounts you have, but you'll be dealing with an intermediatary as opposed to Orange themselves.
Be interesting to see who they've told the truth too .

P4U told me to deal directly with the big O if I had any issues, which I did. They didn't seem to have a problem deling with me. Even managed to get some discount for their 3g coverage being piss poor as a mast in my area was down.
Could it just be a line Orange tell you to stop you going to CW and P4U?

Do you mind explaining this slowly for the thick? Does this mean that you can upgrade an orange contract via CPW or P4U?
I'm out of contract and I want a Galaxy Nexus. Now Orange upgrades have offered me 600mins,1200texts,1GB for £20/month (I'm a v loyal customer) to get the Galaxy S2 for free, I want the Nexus for the same monthly line rental. Will CPW or P4U be able to offer the same?

I don't think they know what they're supposed to be saying, they all appear to be saying different things. Interesting that you can go straight to them with problems though.

That was my understanding, they even said I could transfer my corporate discounts over with me to CPW too.
I found P4U were able to offer better deals and had more flexibility than CW. Just keep pushing them politely and see what you can get away with.
P4U started out with a £41pm for a 24 month contract, then offered an automatic £7pm rebate and then threw in £60 cash back. That was for 900 mins, 3000 texts and 1gb of data and a free phone. Its worth knowing what upgrade banding you are.
I got mine over a month ago so you should be able to get a better deal. £20pm might be pushing it though.
Interestingly, I have just had a call from Orange informing me that I am due for a handset upgrade having nearly reached the end of my contract. Upon informing him of my intention to move to a Galaxy Nexus on O2 unless Orange could provide a firm release date for the Galaxy Nexus he stated that "Orange will never support the Galaxy Nexus due to major bugs with the handset." FUD?

The radio on the CDMA version is pretty poor by all accounts and on the GSM version (the one we'd we'd use over here), there was a bug that if you sqitched the handset to 2G or it went anywhere near a 2G source, it would put itself on silent (vid below)

So Orange won't be supporting it, but you can get it on contract with Orange through Carphonewarehouse who say that, if you have any problems, you should call Orange's customer service support!??!
Don't get me wrong... I believe you when you say that they told you that are not offering it/will never support it, but where's the guy got his info from? I've been told, as have others, that it is "on it's way" or will be "with them soon"... even had one of their customer service people telling me that she was waiting for the handset... it just doesn't add up!
To be honest, I have a year left on my contract and, by the time I'm due for an upgrade, there will be something else new that won't be available on Orange
