Rooting ONDA VX580W & Upgrading if Possible.
(Apologies, i posted this before, but in the wrong section, so i have reposed here)
I live in the UK, and I recently got a ONDA VX580W:
(This was the information on the AMAZON UK page where i purchased the item)
CPU Speed: 660MHz
RAM: 256MB DDR2
Memory Size: 8GB
Support Card: Micro SD(TF),32GB
Screen Size: 5 inch
Video Format: AVI, RM, RMVB, PMP, FLV, MP4, M4V, VOB, WMV, 3GP, MKV
Video Resolution: 720P, 1280 ×7 20
Audio Format: MP1, MP2, MP3, WMA, OGG, APE, FLAC, WAV, AC3, AAC, AMR, DTS, RA, M4A
Picture Format: JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF
File Format: PDF, TXT, EPUB
E-book: Aldiko, Adobe Reader
And after exploring it a bit, ive noticed that the Wireless is always disconnecting and reconnecting, it locks up from time to time.
Although these faults particularly don't concern me. I was just wondering, since I'm fairly tech savvy (when it comes to computers and what not) would i be able to Root this device and install a superior android OS (Perhaps android 4.0), or even something better if possible, in English to start with, so there are not any random factory default apps (some in Chinese) that i cant remove, and language setting annoyances. And basically have more control over the device.
My only concerns are, its the lesser VX580W which isnt at 1.5GHZ like some other models ive found with the same name, and might not be able to handle anything superior to Android 2.2. And, it might be set up with a particular version or modified setup of Android 2.2 for its hardware.
I wanted to ask here, because it being a Chinese device if i make the wrong decision and mess something up I wouldn't be able to get official support or be able to send it back for a replacement. And you guys can take a look at the specs and KNOW what Android OS's it can handle, and actually help me make an informed decision.
