Default Device hardware help? Do i need loads of gigahertz?

Hi
I'm going to purchase a phone but I can choose between 1.2 gigahertz dual core or 1.4 gigahertz quad core. There is a big enough price jump between the two, so im asking is it really worth it, will i actually need all of the 1.4 quad core. Would there also be a major difference?

Here is the specs of both phones, tell me which one do you think i should go for?

phone 1: Built-in Memory: 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM. 8MP rear camera + 1.3MP front camera. Battery: Li-on battery(3100mAh). 5.4 inch IPS HD OGS touchscreen. 1.4 gigahertz quad core

phone 2: Built-in Memory: 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM. 12MP rear camera + 2MP front camera. Battery: Li-on battery(2800mAh). 5.4 inch QHD touchscreen. 1.2 gigahertz dual core

Any opinions or advice is appreciated, thanks
