Default Behold... A brick.

So in debating whether or not to build a shed with the various bricked samsung beholds (the first one T919) that keep floating in the door of my house I have searched the web far and wide to see if a better solution is out there. I can unbrick them to their factory state, but the fake little os attempt that is factory is hardly worth bothering with. Then I began to realize that many, many people want to see a port of android on this phone. It has the power, to at most, run 1.6. Unfortunately no one seems to have created a port for it. I would be happy to take the time to do so, but I would have no idea how to go about it. And although I am linux user, my programming skills are sparse and lacking. Last time I programmed something Texas Instruments still made computers. Does anyone have documentation on their process for how they went about figuring this out? Or better yet, does anyone happen to want to take on this project that may have more skill than I do?

Please I beseech thee, help all the poor t919 users out there. They have already been taken advantage of by tmobile and samsung, Could we throw them a bone?

What's the cpu on it? And memory?

If you have a Linux boxen, and the cpu is supported, you should be able to do a cross-compile with gcc.

Bootloader, well you have a lot of them, so a couple bricks while trying to get the boot loader to kick over to Android wont risk much.

If you're referring to the original Samsung Behold, it's a waste of time. Been there down that. It's a weak feature phone locked up just like the rest of Samsung's pitiful devices. I believe someone was able to port the Samsung Tocco firmware but that's the last I heard of it before I moved on to Android.

BTW - Using tkfile explorer w/jar & jad files was a pita too

Sad

Sad day. It never fails to amaze me how Samsung and T-mobile have continued to release junk phone after junk phone and take no responsibility for their foul ups. The behold and gravity series phone for samsung and the danger sidekicks and the aformentioned phones for tmobile. So there is no way to port a half way decent os onto these? That is truely unfortunate considering they were available at the same time as the g1 for the same price. All Tmobile did was talk these beholds up... I wish there was some way for all the Tmobile users who got bent over by this could rise as one and demand action.

It is unfortunate but there's really not much you can do. My advice is to put it up on Craigslist for a reasonable amount and try to recoup some of your losses. I sold mine for $150 back in December of 09 and upgraded to the Behold II which also turned out to be disaster, but that's another story LOL. Suffice it to say I no longer support Samsung products as a result.

What would reasonable be for these... I have 6 of the blasted things. 4 pink and 2 espresso. I almost hate to pawn the evil phones off on some poor unsuspecting sap. I agree with you. After this no more samsung products.

Just out of curiosity...why do you have 6 of the same model phones? Were they all for each member in your family?
