Default pantech element ad-hoc blocked

I have the pantech element P4100. It is blocked from seeing or connecting to Ad-hoc connections. has anyone found away around this?

Root it and delete AT&T Communications manager. It blocks all ad hoc attempts if you have less than a 5GB plan. It may have other triggers too, but I know that one for a fact.
