There are no plans to re-enable TT support.. We had a problem with it back in the day, which was resolved and is of no concern now, but at that point we decided to just drop support for it permanently and use our own app.

I know you guys have your own app, but what's the chances in you all hooking up with tapatalk?
Can I also add my vote for enabling tapatalk? I don't want to have separate apps for each and every forum I visit when there's a perfectly good one, plus the reviews of the Phandroid app make worrying reading. The application continuing to run in the background even when exited is a bit of a no-go.

So yes, please do re-enable tapatalk!
Michael
It doesn't run in the background after closed if you have all the real time updates turned off (not for me anyway)

hello we are a web developer and we use the latest version on our Thunderbird Forum and it's awesome!
Gives us exposure to new users as well, you are missing the boat.
I would like to humbly request that you reconsider adding TapaTalk support. Multiple apps for multiple forums is inefficient. Any way to persuade you on this matter?

We're actually going to reconsider. Rob and I have talked on it here and there for a few weeks now.
There are some priorities first but yes, I'll publicly say we are in fact reconsidering it now, and it LOOKS like we may just go on and re-enable. Don't set that in stone, but it's probably 51/49 FOR - right now.

Glad to hear it is not a dead issue
I think if the current app was supported (updated) more often and there were responses from the programmer that would help people not to think of another app to use. I will say that by people asking for better is great since it shows they wish to use and respond to this site and not say well if the app doesn't work the way I need it I will just go somewhere else I am happy that you are responding to their cry out to still be here they just need you to help that happen without trying to use a web browser on a small phone when these apps are great for a message board environment.

This is awesome news!! I would love having all of my forums in one convenient place! Bravo for reconsidering it.

I know you said there were "priorities" before you could get to the Tapatalk change, but I hope it's sooner rather than later. There are so many threads now that I follow that return errors now, it's getting very annoying.....pretty please?
That would be great if you all decided to enable Tapatalk support.
I tend to resort to using other sites, because of the convenience of having access to all of them within one app. If Android Forums was added, I'm sure quite a few people, along with myself, would be overly excited. This is a great forum, but I feel many don't visit it as they should because of lack of Tapatalk support.

Yes, me too. I don't look on here very often at all now as I tend to browse using my phone and it's just so much easier using Tapatalk. Good to hear it is being reconsidered.

This for me is the big concern with the app as my biggest issue has not been resolved. Every time I leave the app for a call or reply to my friend's sms or msn, I lose my page on the app. When I go back, it takes me to the home screen and I'll have to navigate back to where I was to continue. The app has taken my ability to multitask on an Android device (ironically) away. I've resorted to browse AF on the browser, which I hate...but the app has made it a much better experience (ironically). So I really like the fact that there are more options available (hopefully)

I agree. The screen is too tiny on my phone to efficiently browse the website but it's better than either losing my place or having my battery drastically reduced by the pull of the app. (And yes, even when I turn all auto sync and everything off in the preferences for the app it still runs and is my second highest battery and cpu hog - the first being the phone itself). I have resorted to uninstalling the app when I know I won't be by a power source for a couple hours.
I've never used tapatalk so I can't say that I would love it - I really just want something to view my favorite forum on that works as it should.

No it doesn't Well...not with XDA anyways, lol. I did prefer the XDA app to Tapatalk (free), lol.
I just wish the dev could (I know he's a busy man) spend a couple of days to just fix some of those BASIC issues that's making the Phandroid app NOT work for most of us.

I hear the XDA Paid app supports thanks, so maybe it supports report too?

The app is quite good. Mainly because its pure black, not a cack blue (and blue is my favourite colour) and white, pixel wasting hog for us OLED freaks

As a long time lurker, first time poster, I'd like to implore you to require that any TT support include a filter to remove any and all TT sigs. I am unimaginably sick of reading posts on the XDA forums that end with the TT spam over and over and over.
Or just not let that back in. This forum is so clean right now...
EDIT: As for the whole, hey, we'd like to get the word out about our app thing, well, I think the forum app thing is a great idea, now that you mention it, and would love to use an app that had broad support across numerous forums, so long as it lacked the ability to include a tag/sig, and so long as it wasn't tapatalk, such do i now loathe the spam. I would not now use tapatalk even if sent money/beer every month.
Failing that, and since a lot of people seem to like it and i know how it is when you get used to something, have a forum rule involving warnings/suspensions for anyone posting with a TT sig.

This is pure speculation, but I bet both the 'Sent from my X' signatures and the popup saying 'This site is android native.' are conditions of using the tapatalk plugin on your forum.

Absolutely HATE all that 'posted using' tt or xda app......
we just need our app to start getting updates... frequently....

I absolutely love the XDA app and Tapatalk. I don't even see the sigs (and frankly miss the sigs here, there's usually good information in a well planned signature). The app we have now is the main reason I don't frequent these forums as much anymore - because I'm usually on the fly somewhere, and use my phone to access forums. Right now six of my favorite forums are on Tapatalk. I really wish this one was, too. It makes my life easier, and hectic as it is, I need all the help I can get in that department.

+ 1 for looking into bringing back TT support. I use TT and previously the paid XDA app, and prefer them over the Android Forums mobile client/app. Night Mode FTW!
We may not get it, but at least the Admins are listening to what the users want. Thanks!
I'd also like to request Tapatalk support. I use an Android device and am an enthusiast, but I also use other platforms which have a tapatalk app. I'd like to be able to access this forum from those as well since there is no phandroid app for them.
I too am very glad that TT support is still in consideration. Not to stir the pot or anything but I usually ignore this forum a little more because I frankly just like all my forums in one app. That happens to be TT right now

Word.
Anyhow updates on the situation?

By the way, the "Sent from Tapatalk" signature is an option inside of Tapatalk. Most people probably don't know that it's there or don't care enough to disable it, just like the "Sent from my mobile device" in most email clients.
It's always important to reach customers where they are. Getting back into Tapatalk would accomplish this.
Tapatalk (paid version) was also a free app from either GetJar or Amazon Appstore. So that probably greatly increased its users.
Why should I pay 3 dollars to read this forum on my phone without the hassle of the browser? Personally I've not had much of an issue with the current phandroid app however, there have been a couple times where the page wouldn't load and I would have to hit the back button and try again...
I have tried and seriously no offence but it is really lacking in both polish and design. It is completely unuseable on my tablet. It just feels like a beta project to me and it has not been updates in quite a long time. As a result I rarely visit this forum anymore because it is not easily accessible.
I would so much love for TT to be enabled.
I do use the app but I more dislike it than like it. It is always running (and yes, I have disabled all notifications) and I get more errors than not. Forget trying to read the news either, that NEVER works for me. It's really not worth the squeeze at some level. It does come in handy, when it works, for reading/posting in the forums though.
TT may have it's shortcomings (what doesn't though?) but, for me, it is so much nicer than the Phandroid app is.
To appease the masses though, perhaps have both? Let the user decide which to use. Don't know if that is a viable alternative, food for thought.

I just use the browser to surf AF on my phone. I would think that on a tablet, the experience is better.

I do but most times it will not let me reply because dolphin does not let me input text to the reply box and I like having TT because all of my forums are in the same place.

Dolphin works fine for me. Are you using the Quick Reply box or the Reply button to open a new window?

Both, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I know this is a problem with dolphin not this forum. I'm just posting my reason why I think we should have Tapatalk support again.
