This is in the wrong section... doesn't matter... I am here most of the time rather than the other areas of forum and I really like the people here... so...
Get out and vote today... its our civic duty and if you don't vote you can't gripe when the representative in your area does something you don't like. Not going to influence you who to vote for (vote republican...haha) but get out and vote people.....

Your vote does matter. I too won't tell you who to vote for, but in Washington State Rossi for Senator is your only choice.
Otherwise, you get Patti Murray the communist who will continue to take all your money push the "Victim vs Oppressor" ideology.
No matter where you live, it is important to vote. Vote for the candidate(s) that match up most with your values and morals, not because they had a (D) or (R) after their name.

This is one of the biggest things about politics that bugs me, people will vote based on party rather than who will do a better job.

Because in the long run those politicians will vote with there party instead of their beliefs/views you voted for, or they won't be backed by their party next election and won't get any earmarks thrown into a bill for them and their constitutes. Besides, whom ever you vote for is left wing now. R-left wing, D-far left wing, there are no conservatives left.

There will be conseratives after today... and I'm so excited about it. Its go time for the new class of conserative republicans. And I used to be a huge liberal. Amazing how growing up will change your views. I have liberal friends, just can't see why people want more and more of their already small checks going to the government. Also, if people want social welfare, give to your church and see how much better the money is used. Not ranting, just want people to wake up. And I do vote for the person. Problem is most democrats believe in a totally different idealology than I do now. Republicans are closer to my morals. But almost no politician is perfect. We need term limits badly. Would get rid of a lot.of.the corruption
Agree with the term limits but conservatives scare the crap out of me, almost all the Repubs out there have 2 or 3 things that they support that makes sense or is a standard Repub ideal, but those 3 things are deeply encased inside 30 off the wagon ridiculous things that are so contradictory its insane
The Dems are not doing much of anything, but they seem to be less extreme, ill take the current over conservative extremism anyway, the 50's and 60's look cool in the movies and on paper, but human rights were quite lacking back then lol

im not going to vote, because I dont agree with any of the people running, and im not about to vote just so i can say "I voted now you have to listen to me" Just because someone doesnt vote doesnt make their opinion less valid and unless you know all the circumstances as to why they dint vote then it would be appreciated if you diudnt force your opinions and beliefs on others.

I generally avoid the (D)'s and (R)'s. They're both crazy in their own right and they're both viciously partisan and refuse to compromise. I voted, and I voted almost strait ticket Libertarian, I think I voted for maybe two republican candidates and two or three Democrats also.
I wish other's would stop complaining about politicians and just vote third party or independent, at least then you can probably find someone who's beliefs are closer to your own. Don't be afraid to "waste" your vote, it's better than voting for someone who doesn't deserve your vote.

According to the campaign ads, I voted for a candidate who eats babies for breakfast, two who know Satan personally and a psychopath who makes Norman Baits look like Gandhi.

I used to be a huge lib too, then I stopped believing all the lies I saw from msnbc, cbs, nbc and CNN and started to research the stuff myself and saw just how bad their reporting is. Alot of people in this country do not care about freedom or responsibility, they would rather have a nanny state to hold accountable instead of themselves, although politicians rarely get held accountable for their actions.

I voted mostly libertarian and even some green party, tried to avoid the D's and R's too
voting is not a civil duty. Being an educated voter is a civil duty. All those pushes like ROCK THE VOTE and JUST VOTE are in place to get the absent mined morons who have not taken the time to learn about the candidates and issues to show up, and that's why the wrong people get voted into office. That's how obama got elected. The only reason the marijuana bill is on the ballot in cali, is to get the stoners and ******s out to vote and of course they will vote liberal on everything else including the candidates. Even if that prop passes, it will be shut down by the feds before you even have time to light one up. Again, it's only there to get the uneducated voter to the polls. So do us all a favor, if you haven't taken the time to educate yourself, don't eff it up for the rest of the country by voting.

lol! Being Canadian I had to laugh at this. American politics is so far right wing compared to us. You would hate to see our New Democratic Party if you think American Democrats are far left wing! People in the states would probably call them Communists, but up here they're just 'slightly left of center'.

the right wing here in the USA calls our democrats communists(and worse) already
The Tea Party movement confuses me. It seems like they have a good movement and a bad implementation. Not exactly the A team of republicans on most ballots.
I fear the Democrats are becoming a bit too socialist. It's important to always remember the bias of what you read, but I do think there is truth to most of what's out there.
Hopefully I can help make a difference once I'm old enough. I'd love to work on a campaign, but I don't have enough experience yet to decide what really matters to me. Maybe once I get a job next summer it will be a little clearer.

I agree about the uneducated voters. I think we should be free and be able to do what we want as long as we are not harming anyone else. I think marijuana should be legal because it doesn't make people go out and kill as some people would have you believe, if marijuana is illegal then alcohol should be to as it it the cause of far more crime and death (excluding the obvious crime of possession.) Neither party is for the legalization of marijuana, only a few candidates from each party support it (dems have only a couple more pro marijuana supporters than the republicans.) Both parties try to limit some of our freedom but the democrats want to limit much more of our freedom than republicans.
Indeed. The ball's in their court now. Let's hope they can do more than just hurl rhetoric until 2012.
Not really, the Dems still control the senate and the executive branch. The only way we'll get anything more than rhetoric is if both sides can find common ground.

This says it all, "If voting could actually change anything it would be illegal"!

I voted as well and split my ticket fairly evenly among both major parties. The district I voted in there were NO third party candidates of any kind but in New Jersey we did have a statewide ballot issue for a change. I think we were the last state to tell the state legislature they can't take money out of the state unemployment fund and spend it on other things. Not sure how that wasn't already not allowed but alas that measure passed so the greedy legislature can keep their grubby mitts off that money.
I hold out hope that there will be more cooperation and less partisanship but with the way the country has been trending I have my doubts. All the Governors races that went Republican in key states will make re-election for Obama tough in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania among others not to mention states redrawing lines based on population shifts from this year's census.
Most of all, I followed as many national races as I could and it was disappointing to say the least to hear very few candidates talk about what they would actually do to change things instead of broad party-based mottos like cut taxes, shrink government, protect social security, protect health care, etc. It's also amazing how bad Democrats are at winning the media message battle but it serves them right for hiding a tax cut in the stimulus bill. I am not a Republican by any stretch but I find myself trending that way on fiscal matters while being left of center on social issues.
Kudos to those voted and those who didn't. All American citizens have the right to exercise their rights by voting or not voting and I understand the arguments to be made for both sides of the coin.

Exactly!
The party that is furthest to the right in Ireland is Fine Gael, and they are more fiscally left than the dems

You were liberal because indocrination works. If people actually researched why things are the way they are instead of looking for facts to back what they believe things wouldn't be so hard to argue. Scientist could take a hint here too. Look for facts not fact to back your science.

LOL: . . . Apparently, you do not know who Van Jones is/was? He is or was President Obamas "Green Job Czar" He was or is an AVOWED COMMUNIST. No BS, not saying it because I see a Commie everywhere I turn; he is, by his own admission, a Communist.
Obama is fond of czars. Did you know they are unelected and unvetted political appointees with extreme power?
I suggest you do a little research. Or try to.
Obama is not a Commie, but his attitute straddles the fine line between a democtatic process and totla iron rule that many of ous Proud as all Hell Republicans are bothered by.

Really?
Communism is a failed system because humans generally dont want to help others with no incentive for themselves

He got elected on the basis he would put in a healthcare package more eh "extreme" than the the one he did
I’m going to vote Republican in every available box and there is nothing and nobody that can change my mind.
I expect Democrats feel exactly the opposite and I see no point in trying to convince them they’re wrong – I can’t argue with a sick mind.
I just hope that this time, Republicans that didn’t bother last time will get off their sofas and vote this time, because there are more of them – they’re just quieter.

Dems have had their share as well. Carter is generally thought to be a horrible President. Clinton couldn't keep it in his pants. Obama has failed to make any improvement on the economy but has succeeded in raising taxes on the poor with his Obamacare bill. People need to wake up and realize that neither party is the solution.
