Root How To Root VM Samsung Intercept FROYO 2.2.2 (Easy Way) {Updated 6/24/12}

IMO, this is a low-quality phone. I took the plunge to hack and root it with the intention of getting a new phone (the HTC 4G from VM) if it ever bricked. If you brick it, just do yourself a favor and buy the phone you deserve. If not, then you can overclock it and wait till it runs out of juices for good before getting something new.

Would love to buy a new phone to replace this crappy intercept, if I had any money.....just thought that was kind of offensive to broke folks who can't afford nice things.

As far as your instructions go...I am friggin lost....but at this point, my intercept is useless, it just restarts itself over and over and over because I'm assuming it has too many stock apps that cannot be controlled and take up all the memory for it to run properly. I was hoping I could root it enough to get rid of some of the crap like the airG chat and amazon mp3 and facebook and crap like that, so i can use the 2 apps i need it for.....but I cannot figure out how to do it properly....so I guess I"m just f'd in the a....?

I do agree that this phone is not that great! If your phone shows no life at all or you want to upgrade then i would suggest looking at your local craigslist online for cheaper VM phones!

Q. When I Booted into the ROM it just force closes everything!
A. Flash back Stock...NOT STOCK RECOVERY!! And then retry the steps again!

ok i did that got it back from the google logo to the samsung logo with the samsung website under the logo and loading bar

Q. When I go to boot into the system it just goes to a black screen with nothing!
A. You just SEMI-Bricked it! But not to worry, it is very easy to fix! All you have to do is Flash the Stock Kernel, Stock Rom, And Stock Recovery and retry the WHOLE process over again!

after the samsung logo loading screen the VM animation goes through then nothing screen is still lit up but is black and recovery is going to the old recovery menu and not the intercept.apk recovery menu i dont know what i did wrong i followed all your steps please help me asap

I messed something up and it was booting to a black screen and decided to start over, however after I flashed the stock recovery I decided to reboot.

Now the phone still boots to black.. but when I try to boot into recovery mode it takes me to some weird purple screen with only 4 options, none of which allow me to even access the sd card.

Did I just screw myself over?

*** Edit ***

To be a little more clear, the phone will boot through Samsung and Virgin Mobile screens, then go to a black screen.

I can get to the STOCK recovery screen and the download screen.

hey yall, I know this is kinda old post, hoping I can get some assistance.. got intercept with 2.2.3, build: Froyo.fb01, actualy i have 2 of them.. both sprint and i understand sprint& VM use different radio basebands..
Anyway I been trying to root the phones mainly to de bloat them.. I have tried zergrush, as well as the method here, but all my computers run ubuntu linux so superoneclick isnt an option at this time, but all that i try fails..
