Help Holy Smokes! High Data Usage by Android OS! [SOLVED]

Ok, this is nuts! Does anyone know where and/or who I could contact about this problem? This is getting pretty serious as you can see by the screen caps below.
I need to talk to someone at Google to find out what is going on! This is going to crush my data caps in a couple of weeks!

I dont know how your managing this, but remember, all the apps (google+, voice, books etc) show their own usage. currently my Android OS is at 1.78Mb after a few day... If i knew how to post a pic from work i would but i cant.

I like to have all my Google services running. And aside from maybe...battery my phone is not affected. My Google Music is however at 181Mb, therefore i pinned my favorite album.

A little help here? If I turn off 'backup data'- it says it will erase all copies of wifi passwords, bookmarks, and app data on google servers. I don't really want that to happen, do I ??
This backup is only used if you reset or buy a new phone. When you sign in again after a wipe your browser bookmarks, a list of applications previously installed and wifi passwords are restored automatically. No need to worry about turning this off.

had my one x about 6weeks now and its got the new European update,

last couple of days android OS has been downloading almost constantly, let it do 100mb a day then switched off network as its going to go over my 1gb per month, it never used to do this, i have turned off everything else, its just showing the OS as being the downloader, anyone any idea as to why?
thanks

Just had this problem with my new SGS3.. By chance I had a limit set on my data, but it still download in background 305mb.. can't find what it is. The "Sync Google Photos" and "Sync Picasa Web Albums" did not ran at all today so it's not the cause.. but I must find why it download that much on mobile data, when I was all night long on wifi so it should have download what it needs last night.

I really hope that the Backup Data function is the culprit. Last time i encountered this problem i had to reset my whole phone, just to get it back to normal for about a month or so...
(only made an account to comment in this debate, since i encounter the same series of problems way 2 often)
Proud owner of SGS2 :)

Had a similar problem, since upgrading to ICS, whenever I went from WiFi to 3G, "Android OS"/"OS services" started consuming huge amounts of data, roughly 10MB per hour.
Tried disabling sync, disabling refresh on AP mobile and all the other suggestions in this thread and nothing worked.
So I did a factory reset and this time I didn't restore everything using Titanium Backup but did everything manually. Took more time to set everything up again, but now I'm back to much less than 1MB a day from the "Android OS".
Hope it helps.

I would imagine this would happen if you restored Google apps and their data from a TiBu backup (or if you mistakenly restored system data, which you should never do). You only restore user apps and their data, and after that you then restore Google apps without their data.

Same thing happened to me...***just***at the beginning of my billing cycle, Android OS used 487MB of my data. Now I'm stuck with 1G (they lie those Tmobile losers) for the rest of the month. What the heck happened? In one shot, it used ALL that data? Using Titanium now to uninstall google...sorry big brother! (read 1984 by george orwell for that reference)

On google servers is the key part. Disabling backup will just remove google's copy of your personal information. (Did I mention they stalk you? Well, they do) The only *real* downside is that if you trash your phone, you'll have to put your info back in.
