Unlimited minutes on $35 plan?

Well, after 4 emails I finnally got the following answer.
"The Samsung Galaxy S5 is compatible with your current $35/300 Min Beyond Talk Plan, since it is an Android Beyond Talk device. This will not affect your plan in any way."
So, it looks like if you keep the same type of phone you can keep your plan.

Are you currently using an S5?

No I am currently using a S3, I asked them specifically, several times, that I wanted to upgrade to the S5 and if I did would I be able to keep my current plan with the 2.5GB's of data. Their answer was yes, since the S5 is a "Android Beyond Talk device" that my plan will stay exactly the same as it is now.

Now, i realize, that since they still have the old $35 plan as well, you would be able to "switch back" to that plan when you get a new. But, no one knows how long they will keep the old plan, so it may not be there when it's time to switch. Personally, I' heavily leaning towards leaving VM when it's time for a new phone. When I started on the $25 plan, it was such an incredible value, that no one else even came close to. That's just not the case anymore.

That's how I took it the wording as well, it would only change if you switch to a Pay-lo, one of the wal-mart plans, or an Apple device. those all use different plans.

It would stay the same as long as you stick with the "type" of device you are using which is their beyond talk androids.

They do mean phone model, I pasted the latest response they sent me. You would have to pick from what plans they have available at the time you are changing phones. Since they still have the old $35 plan, you can go back on that plan. But, if they get rid of that, then you will not get it back, since you can only choose from what plans they are offering at the time. You do not automatically go back to your old plan.

"
After reviewing your inquiries, we have confirmed that you are currently enrolled in a promotional plan that includes Unlimited Talk, Unlimited Text and Unlimited Data and the due date schedule is 12/15/2014. Before this promotional plan, you had a $35 Beyond Talk Plan and this plan included 300 minutes of talk time, unlimited text and date. Since this is a promotional plan, you will be able to keep this exclusive new plan as long as you don't change your plan or device type, or allow your account to cancel. What we consider a different device type is when you change for example a Samsung Galaxy SIII to Samsung Galaxy 5. A same device type will be changing a Samsung Galaxy SIII for another Samsung Galaxy SIII."

Folks, fyi, virgin mobile (vm) allows me to switch to a better grade smartphone device and be remained on the promo plan.

[09.??.14] I bought a htc desire 816 to replace my samsung galaxy victory phone.

[10.??.14] I broke the screen weeks later, and I switched back to my samsung galaxy victory phone.

[11.22.14] virgin mobile (vm) switched my $35 300 minutes plan to the unlimited data, talk & text promo plan.

I forget how long I have been with vm. I would say it's about +/-2 years.

[12.13.14] I bought another new htc desire 816 ($170 via ebay.com) and activated the phone with the unlimited data, talk & text promo plan attached.

Happy Holidays!

Wow, awesome! Did you call in to reactivate your phone or did you do it online? There's 2 plans online which is kind of confusing, one which shows as $35 unlimited talk text and data but its actually really little data and one that shows as $35 300 mins unlimited data. Are you sure you didn't just get confused and choose the unlimited talk text and data plan rather than the promo plan?

I did it online.

ADDENDUM:
[11.22.14] virgin mobile (vm) switched my $35 300 minutes plan to the unlimited data, talk & text promo plan.

As many others in this thread, I was texted, informed and switched automatically to the promo plan by vm. I have no clue(s) to how I *qualified* for the plan upgrade.
