Root [Sprint] OTA Update L300VPBND4

Any chance someone out there has the Stock OTA update for LJ9 to MC1 (4.1.1 to 4.1.2)? Most links for this device are dead, would love to try this new OTA update out but I'm on 4.1.1 on my old phone that is no longer active or able to receive updates the normal way.

I've looked and there are only two manual updates that I could find, LH1 to LJ9 and MC1 to ND4... I suppose I could upload my stock ND4 Nandroid backup from TWRP if you want it, the problem is I think.. that those updates also update the modem so TWRP most likely doesn't touch that whatsoever and I don't know if that would cause any kind of issues (such as bootlooping) so you can try that if you want, just know it might be a little risky but as long as you make a backup and download stock ICS for use with odin, you shouldn't have to worry too much about bricking your device.

Thoughts from anyone else here? would a Nandroid backup flash fine without updating first?

No it would not. You have to update with the updater script. It updates the system, basebands, kernel, etc.. Restoring a twrp backup that doesn't match your system will cause problems. Ask The_Victorian, he had Major problems. Like broken radios, no 4g and some others, which were not fixed by restoring the correct backup. So DO NOT do it.
Sorry didn't mean for that to sound like an order lol. Just a strong recommendation.

What if I used a different carrier's set of images? Is there a better availability of Virgin or Boost as far as availability of the OTA updates? I don't really care too much about the radio functionality as long as Wifi works, or should I just root at 4.1.1 and leave things as they are? Is ND4 version 4.4.2?

WiFi is a radio too. No its not 4.4.2. Lol. The newest for this phone is 4.1.2. No you can't flash another carrier ota. You will most likely brick.

I think you can just apply it. I didn't unfreeze anything.
Started getting the update system notification again so I sat down to flash this zip and I kept getting an error. Tried it both signed/unsigned. So I unfroze all the apps I had frozen and then tried again with success after flashing it with out signed verification checked.
I am also happy to report that my in call volume issue is also no longer present, so far.
Interesting because the stock OTA ND4 update did not help with this issue on my other non Rooted Victory? Definitely some other tweak when this zip rebuilds the files. Seems to indicate Samsung could easily send out a fix for this issue.

So I rooted the wifes Victory that had the in call volume issue and had already received the OTA ND4 update. I then went ahead and flashed bricem ND4 zip file and it fixed the in call volume issue on her phone.
I don't see/have any issues with the device after flashing that file over the device that already has the OTA ND4 update? So, if your device has the in call volume issue this may a fix for you?

Nice man. I'm going to try flashing this on my virgin Mobile ND4 phone. Worth a try!

[EDIT] I can verify this will not work with the virgin mobile edition. It will not get past blue glowing Samsung screen. Thanks anyways!

I have read through this whole thread twice as well as others, I am still on MC1 running Sprintorious-0.1.4JerryScript and tired of the install update notification. I see someone said they would post the ND4 update for TWRP without check stock app removal, but never found the link.

What do I do to update this without going through ODIN? Is there a link, or is the first link on this thread safe, even if I have removed all stock apps and have no recovery for them?

EDIT- Found my original MC1 backup on an old hard drive , it has all worked. Has anyone tried the Vivacious kernel with ND4?

They never uploaded the stock app check removal; I ended up going into the zip myself and editing the "updater-script" file and #'ing out the patch_checks and some of the other "apply patches" for file I've modified. Attached is the version that is in the zip I ended up using (the one from the first post). I used 7-zip and replaced the file via drag and drop. You'll want to put it in "USER_L300_SPR_MC1_to_ND4_Update_FWD.zip\META-INF\com\google\android\".

This worked for me because I've frozen or removed some of the apps in that list. If it doesn't work for you or fails at certain lines, go back into the file (via a text editor) and comment out the part it fails at, replace it in the zip, and reupload the zip to your Phone and try flashing again.

i had to zip it so i could attach it, but you'll want to unzip it obviously.
