Hello all

This would be my first android phone ever, and I just want to make sure I get the best out of it. It's a Droid razr Maxx running 4.1.2

I want to get into rooting and all that goes along with it, but not sure where to start. Should I try to get kitkat running on it? Is it fine where it is now? how do I go about doing all the things I hear you can do with android like getting rid of the needless stock apps. What roms run best for this. Really throw links and details at me if you have the time. Sorry if this question has been asked a pile of times by others.

Welcome to Android Forums.

If you want to purse root-ing I can move your question to the all things root sub-forum where it is discussed. You can visit it and check out a number of root-related discussions.

Many of the old reasons for root-ing have been overtaken by other solutions. Using an alternate launcher like Nova Launcher Prime and remaining un-root0ed allows you to hide the pre-installed applications. Many can be disabled in later versions of the system.

If you plan to root ... the recommendation is read and read a lot.

I will check out that Launcher, and yes please move it over. Thank you very much, that info already was very helpful.
