Any Time is Grillin Time

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_steak_seasoning

Making a sampler for a potluck were going to tomorrow. Rack, 1/2 butt, 1/2 brisket flat plus a dozen turds. Did the same thing for a Christmas day party we went to. Had the meat prepped except rub which went on today, rub and sauce made last week. This will be easy pleasy. Also bringing chocolate cake shots to make the party drunker.

You gotta love that ^^^^^^^^^^

I don't have deep snow on the ground. In fact, the snow has melted from my patio but remains in the grass.
I grilled out some burgers tonight. Man they tasted great! It was in the high twenties but had to stand a stiff wind. It was well worth the efforts. My only problem grilling when it's really cold is the grill cover is a bugger to take off and replace when it's cold and stiff.

We have about 1 foot of snow on the ground at the moment. Until today, it has been pretty consistently below zero wind chill for the last couple weeks. Whoever drew that cartoon is pretty clueless. If the grill was hot, there wouldn't be any snow on top and if they hadn't started the grill yet, they certainly wouldn't have the burgers out.

Ha.. I love it! It warmed up here big time. I fought the ice on my commute to work Wednesday and it got into the sixties today. Kansas.. if you don't like the weather... just wait a day or two. It will definitely be different.

I grilled out some ribeye tonight. Man they were great. It was wonderful grilling in my T-shirt. I have a couple of racks rubbed down sitting in the fridge. Tomorrow I'm smoking ribs and baking some beans and making some potato salad. I'm so hungry for some ribs... I was out of my rub so I bought something at the market.
I'm not big on commercial rubs but was pressed for time. I hope it's good. Some sort of sweet and smoky by Grill Mates. We'll see....

Planning stages for the sb party for 50 or so. Promised full on bbq. Ribs, pulled pork, beans, slaw, ABT 's plus slider burgers, dogs, and I'll probably do some baked Ziti and meat balls too. Avoiding brisket as its become costly. For booze, chocolate cake shots, a berry infused bourbon drink I sort of created (mulled fresh berries, lime juice, cherry bourbon, agave nectar and club soda.)and pineapple infused vodka (revenge of our summer cabana drink of choice) . The game might suck like last year, but no one should be sober enough to care.

My sb plans are far less exotic than yours. That sounds like a real party! I'm smoking a couple of shoulders for sandwiches. Family and friends will be providing all of the rest of the goodies. When I'm done pulling the pork I can relax and enjoy.

Good luck with your party and I hope the guests survive at least long enough to see the half time show :)

Well, you see my current avatar, so you know where I stand for the SB.;)

In my family we've established a rule. Home team in the game, no party. We want to watch, not explain the game to the band wagon fans or listen to them chit chat about the commercials when the important stuff is happening.:maddroid:

That said, I'll probably have some wings ready for half time. I'll start them all out washed and dried, and coated with salt and pepper. I'll take a third and brush with BBQ for the last ten minutes. Another third will be flipped with Franks Red Hot once fully cooked. We'll end up with a 1/3 plain, 1/3 BBQ, and 1/3 Buffalo. Combine with some homemade slaw, sweet potato fresh cut french fries we will have a feed.

Then, I will resume screaming at my TV.:nailbitingdroid:

Clearing off the deck is a small price to pay for something yummy off of the grill. :) Have you ever done a beer butt chicken. If you like chicken... this is a killer. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&sqi=2&ved=0CCkQFjAB&url=http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/beer-can-chicken-recipe.html&ei=N8i-VKL8BMWogwSk54HADQ&usg=AFQjCNFSZUMjf3Nkq2K8AL6aWI5eh2aZsQ&sig2=TdcmNlrkhlWQZnslEWojdQ
I almost did a bird tonight but decided on making some beef tips and noodles.... with a lot of mushrooms. :)
That is a regular in our meal rotation. They even sell racks to make it easier to stand the chicken up.
This is the one I have (~$5 at Walmart):

Googling this image though i see there are now a ton of variants.

That's a good law. You never drinks a bud's last beer is the only law we have on the Kansas books. Everything everything else is fair game and well understood as long as it's in the friendly spirit of consuming spirits. It's frowned upon to use another man's cooler as a chair but he is ostracized if he sits on his own and blocks entry to others. Not law, but well understood. Mostly it's all common sense concerning brews around these parts.
If you aren't into sharing, you are better off not attending a BBQ in these parts.

Back in the early 70s I was at a buds house and we were playing cards. When he got up to go to the can, I took his last remaining beer and replaced it with a beer bottle filled with water. He came back, grabbed the "beer" out of the frig and took a swig. :) He vowed revenge. He owned a mobile home and a year or so later I ended up buying the place across the road from his. This one had a mini-frig in the storage shed where I always kept a spare beer. You guessed it, he got his revenge.

I smoked my pork butts today. It's supposed to be windy tomorrow which makes smoking a challenge. I started them late so I just finished pulling them a while ago. That will make my super bowl Sunday pretty easy. I'm going to make some dips for my chips and making some baked beans and potato salad. I'll do all of that inside.
Let the wind blow. :)

I enjoyed some days of low 70s last week. It was fantastic! Back to reality today however. Below freezing with a chance of snow. Monday isn't much better. It's that time of year so one can't complain. Take the good days when you get them and bitch about the rest. :)

I have my super bowl dinner ready to roll. All that remains is to heat up the pulled pork. I turned on the TV to see what might be on. Five hour pregame show... are you kidding me... sheesh. Go Pats
