Root i'll help find a root method if...

Has anyone had any luck with stayboogy's root method? Hoping those of us that have done the heartbleed update won't be to far behind.
Here, Here!!! I second that! Been following this thread from the get-go, hoping to god these guys don't give up!. The suspense of the challenge is overwhelming. Amazing how something so small has become such a formidable opponent. My hats off to all who have taken-on the challenger. I excitingly await the moment wherein this will be solved. Thank you Stayboogy and other contributors for all you work...Here's to ya!

Just wanted to keep you guys updated. Stayboogy contacted me on the 11th saying he will test his steps in windows since hes only done it in linux so far. Still don't have any boot.img to work with so I can't test yet, but hopefully he will send the files soon.
Anony49, Thanks for the update, we value all info. It def. keeps us hopeful....Stayboogy: Thanks again for the much work you've put into this project. We look forward to the next step.

Great! Glad to hear it and look forward to getting this thing rooted.

i've finally got some free time tonight and tomorrow. anyone who has a working linux box with working adb can get in on the next attempt at rooting.

it will not work in windows since the telnet is a little different. have had no success other than in ubuntu making a privileged telnet into the adb terminal.

must have linux. easy peasy after that

Hey Stayboogy!, great to hear from ya bruh! I'm sure I'm not the only one excited to get any news. Question...Is the current testing still limited to pre-heartbleed fixed phones only? I have 2 phones, one updated one not. either way I'm willing to go guinea pig if you're willing to instruct. It's a beautiful thing to be part of history! woot, woot!!!. Anywho, my knowledge with ADB is limited, but, I'll be damned if I don't have a passion for learning!...keep up the good work, thanks again bruh!

I'm starting to think stayboogy is a psychology student running an experiment to see how long folks will respond to a dangled carrot.
Ha,ha, thats some funny sh*t!, I completely understand, I feel ya pain! Every day I feel like some creepy dude all quiet behind the scenes, hiding from everyone while I creep into the forum hoping to god that someone wrote something, anything!, lol. I know the waiting sucks but I have to keep an open mind to the fact that there are but maybe 1-3, if that, devs/contributors, that are active on this project and, Stayboogie happens to be the current one (1). It could be worse...we might not have anyone!, now that would really suck!. I take whatever I can get, not to mention the fact that everyday life responsibilities affect how much time and effort these guys can invest on any given project. The best thing we can do is continue to support and encourage all these devs/contributors and, to standby so when the time comes that they will need our help as testers and such we, in return, can be there for them. In the meantime, I guess I'll continue to try and catch that damn elusive carrot!!! lol!

any volunteers to let me take a look at this phone over a team viewer connection ?
never mind, lost interest since no one responded in two days

No offense, but I don't give access of my phone and personal info over to anybody. I'll help in any way I can with getting this rooted, but I have to draw the line somewhere.

Thanks for understanding.

No offense, but I am pretty sure that I can provide an acceptable root for this phone, I just dont want to do it anymore.

I haven't checked the thread since the weekend and didn't receive a notification of an new message in the thread since mrfeh posted on Monday. Just thought I'd check tonight. Had no idea what TeamViewer was. just looked it up. I have no objection to you looking at my phone using it. I don't keep anything personal on it. I have used VNC's for years to remotely support my Windows clients and they trust me, so I'll trust you to do the same for me, if you're still interested in doing so. I really interested in being more knowledgeable about the Android OS but it's a steep learning curve with getting proficient in the Java and all that's required. I only see this as helping me along with the learning.

@hroark13, Hey thanks for your time and effort! I must say that I completely agree with 2BitGary. As much as I would love to help I'm not about to go at it that way where the security of my personal info n stuff is potentially compromised. Please take no offense at this, it's not just with you, it's with anyone. I would rather donate a phone or something instead. But don't let this discourage you.

no offense taken, its all good, and I understand why people would not want a stranger connecting to their computer
I do not see any need for anyone else to post saying, they dont want me to connect to them, or that they agree with you two
The offer no longer stands, so no one else needs to say anything about it.

Can we please just stop talking about it.

I am sorry that I took this thread off topic, perhaps a mod could just delete the last couple post, and we will pretend I never posted in it.

Yep. A big, shiny, gold plated carrot. After all this time hearing that there is a working image now, there is still no file posted for people to come and test. My money is on this being either a flat out hoax or a way to get at phone data.

Well I for one have offered the benefit of the doubt to all the devs/contributors because, experience has proven that "limited support" projects such as this one sometimes can/do take a while, trust me, been there done that! Out of consideration for those trying to work on any project I make it a point to keep a balance between "seek and discover" so as to not burden them as they try to work on figuring things out, with that said.........DAMN!!!......have we been abandoned? Are we just reaching for this damn carrot that in reality, on this forum, we will never reach? I have to admit, I'm starting to feel the same way as Anony49, maybe not quite the same expression but, definitely the same emotion. The activity and communication has come to a halt! I'm patient and open-minded but damn! throw a brotha' some scraps or a bone here and there! I'm not looking for a lot of scraps nor a big meaty bone, just something, anything! A simple "we're still here" would do wonders right about...now! For the sake of the respect and appreciation we do have for this forum, staff, members and supporters, I pray that this is not the case, as Anony49 introduced. If we end up finding out that this is the case, then let me say it now ahead of time..."NOT COOL!...NOT COOL AT ALL!" not to mention the negative affect it will have on the members and the forum in general. I will however do my best to keep hope alive because it's literally all I have left that, "for now", I'm still willing to give.

Guys--things happen when they happen

We never know what circumstances might have arisen for any given member.

So, let's just be grateful and appreciative for what we know and give the benefit of the doubt for the rest.

Thanks!

:)
"Guys--things happen when they happen"
...... Completely agree but, please understand that our sentiments, well, at-least mines, are NOT based on any feeling that this is taking too long or anything like that. I've made that very clear on my posts for all to know. The problem is that at-least twice already... http://androidforums.com/threads/ill-help-find-a-root-method-if.799676/page-23#post-6844900 and... http://androidforums.com/threads/ill-help-find-a-root-method-if.799676/page-22#post-6811252 (not trying to bust anyone's balls, just clarifying ) we were clearly lead to believe that, "things happened" already! (the source behind my sentiment) and that we "were" invited to test the work that had been done up until then. By the time the first post (above) came through, we had already been waiting to hear something for quite a while, no biggie, as much as having to wait sucks, those of us who know, know that waiting, including long waits, come with the territory. We can't blame anyone, I sure won't! We were all pumped up at hearing the news and the invitations to test that others, including myself, immediately inquired about the files and info. so that we could download and test...and to my surprise there was no response!!! We finally get "announced" news and an invite on the forum and when we respond by inquiring, no one responds? and then, it happens again in the second post!!! (above) Look, if it's not ready, it's not ready, that's it, it's that simple and, that's fine, we're cool with that but, lets not forget that "we" are the ones that have been addressed and invited just to find out it has been done prematurely and, disappointingly, with no-one responding with an explanation in return. Surely we don't expect aggravation because of the wait time but, we sure can expect some aggravation because of the the flip flops.

"We never know what circumstances might have arisen for any given member"
.....Completely agree! which is why we are supposed to practice patience and learn to keep our tongues about the things we know nothing of! (wisdom anyone?)

"So, let's just be grateful and appreciative for what we know and give the benefit of the doubt for the rest"
........Too late! been here, doing that! ;)

BTW, scary alien please know that you honestly did wonders at least for me, by the simple act of jumping in here and simply interacting...Thank you!

Well said, krusifyd--thank you for that very nice reply.

I've been following this thread (with great interest) for quite a while now and still hold out hope for you guys.

:)
I know you'll do that for someone else.........Holy smokes! I just happened to glance at the front page and just happened to notice that this has been going on since 2013? I'll pretend that it means that we are getting closer! :thumbsupdroid: You wasn't kidding when you said that you've been following this thread for a while. I like your style bro'...not giving up hope. I have a lifetime supply of hope that has to be put to use, what better place to apply it at than where it's needed!? Hey I noticed (how can anyone miss it?) that this particular thread has been the most active above all others by a huge margin. That alone makes me proud to be a part of this.

Coming in like a boss! I like it! Well in that case welcome and welcome back! We sure could use and appreciate any support we can get. Thanks for your offer.
Hey Jaay Dogg! Great to see you again :).

This thread's quite a long read, but lots of things already done and documented about what's been tried...I'm not able to properly summarize it here, but the device can be temp rooted but won't "stick"...something weird going on that is preventing perma root.

Best of luck!
From the beginning I've always felt that stayboogy was on to something when he spoke concerning a ghost partition scenario of some sort. He kept trying to tell us that; in the first place, we were actually never accessing the systems (read/write) although, at times, the system would reflect that we were. If we never were "in" the system, than anything that we would have done under such system would have never worked permanently! well at-least not for the system we're trying to get into. I do believe stayboogy continued with his hunch and eventually figured it out. I believe he had an idea of the answer before he even worked on it, and he has confirmed some strides too, which is freakn' awesome! Thanks stayboogy! (don't make me have to call you carrot man!!! lol. just messin') Unfortunately we're pretty short handed on the tech. side, including myself but, there are plenty of us here willing and capable in the hardware dept. In the meantime I would suggest that those that have the tech. skills, make an attempt to pm stayboogy with with your interest to support him, that way we will grow this circle of tech "support" that way when one can't work on a current attempt the other can because he's in the know. Communication is a must, without it we struggle to achieve that which is accomplished. Any-who....excited.......Feelin' Goooooooood about this!!!!!!!!!
