Porting number from Virgin to Boost

I tried doing it through boost's website when i switched and it didn't work. I found the boost reps. to be very helpful, I just called them saying I had bought a new phone and wanted to switch from virgin to boost. After only a few minutes they had switched things over and my boost phone fully worked before the call was over. Doing it that way there is no wait time in switching a number from one phone to another across companies, which was nice. Didn't even need to contact virgin at all for anything, which was nice too.

Thank you np6s4x for the reply. I'll call the boost reps when I am ready to switch. Glad to hear it was easy doing it that way.

If you have an active account with boost you need:
  • Account Number.
  • Account pin (when you call 611)
    and or
  • The IMEI number for the phone.
Virgin can port the number with any of these as long as your boost account is active. I would imagine it would be the same going the other way. Meaning there's actually no need to even tell boost, you should just be able to port over by giving virgin a ring ;).

I would say its always good to call and check though, because if boost knows, they can attempt to save you with loyalty or retention offers, and tell you the cost to cancel the phone.

I am porting from Virgin Mobile USA to Boost Mobile USA. Thanks for the info though.

I already got my account number from Virgin, I just emailed them for it. I heard some have a hard time getting it when they call them for it.

i didn't even do that, as far as i know virgin had no idea i switched until i already was. The person that did the switching had access to both boost and virgin accounts, so I'm guessing either someone higher up, from sprint, and/or both.
