Hi folks,
Thought I'd check in and see if anyone else is seeing this. I currently have my wife on an iPhone 5c through Verizon. Have a little over a year to go before I can get her out, so I was pleased to see they were dropping prices $10 on all plans today. Currently I have this:
More everything talk & text + 1gb of data - $40
17% work discount on the above plan - ($6.80)
1gb smartphone access fee - $40
Total before taxes - $73.20
I just went in and started a "change my plan", and I selected the 1gb access for $30. Off to the right I now see:
$40 for smartphone line access
$30 for 1gb data plan.
I click apply my discounts and it's zero. If I go up to the $40/2gb plan I get the $6.80 discount back. WTF? The discount is on the $40 access - not the data. I looked at the bill to confirm that. Verizon has always told me the discount doesn't apply to the data. Since I'm not changing the cost of the line access (only the cost of the data), why do I lose the discount? With this set up I'll only save $3.20/month. I can switch her to a 2gb plan and keep my bill the same, but the point was to get her bill down. She never goes over 1gb.
Any ideas/suggestions? I can't wait for this contract to be up and to switch her over to Cricket where I am now.
Thanks,
Gary
