Help Can't move files/photos from device to computer

Dear Karl_Tx,

In January 2015, I purchased Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G (Model Number : HM NOTE 1 LTE, Android version : 4.4.4 KTU84P, RAM :2.00GB & CPU : Quad-core 1.6GHz ) through Flipkart/India. On the first day of working, system was updated to MIUI version 6.3.5.0(KHIMIBL) with its status as STABLE. After a week, I wanted to transfer a few photographs from Redmi Note 4G to my Laptop (Toshiba Satellite L655 with Win 7 64 bit Home) with the mini USB synchronisation cable. USB icon appears on the notification bar when I drag down the notification bar but the micro-SD card of phone is not listed as Removable Drive when I click Start and then Computer on my Laptop. When I tap Settings-Additional settings-Storage on my mobile, SD Card shows availability of 31.71GB (microSD Card of 32GB capacity has been mounted). I cann’t transfer my photographs without getting folder DCIM …….. I tried a few times more, after rebooting the Redmi Note 4G, but I couldn’t get the solution. Kindly help me to transfer photos & files from mobile to Laptop AND music files from Laptop to mobile (Redmi Note 4G), please !

Hello Swami!
Do you have the correct drivers installed on the computer?
Have you tried a different cord or usb port?
Please do accept my thanks for your prompt reply & moving my post to a proper segment. As far as I understand, my Laptop/computer has latest drivers updated because 'driver updater' software is always running in the background ......... I have checked, it's fine. I changed the usb port (there are 3-usb ports in my laptop) but I have been trying with the same new cord, again & again, supplied by the Xiaomi/Mi.com. If the cord doesn't work properly, my mobile wouldn't have shown USB icon in its notification zone. It shows, cord is O.K. I am afraid, a proper driver is missing in either my mobile OR my Laptop though both the instruments are NEW. But which driver & where to find it out .................... Now I have approached a proper FORUM of Android People, I hope to to get a proper & valid solution. With thanks again.

Could be funky drivers, are you using 64bit Windows? Not many people have Xiaomi phones on AF, so don't read too many things about them here. Most discussion is over on Xiaomi's own company forum. http://en.miui.com/forum.php

The other way is to transfer the pics wirelessly using something like Airdroid. Which is what I do. Uses WiFi, no drivers, no cables.
