I'm currently on t-mobile and have been thinking about switching to cricket after seeing their new plans. Unlimited talk, text, and 2.5 Gb of data is a ridiculous deal, but I can't help but wonder what's the downside?
I live on southern california and they run on ATT's network so I should have solid coverage. I do understand that the data speeds are capped at 8 mbps which is fine because anything more than that is unnecessary. I have a nexus 5 so I don't need to buy a new phone.

So is there anything that I should be concerned about to reconsider switching? Thanks!

I switched when they had $100 switch Promo I havent paid a bill since October when I switched. I also refered customers $25 per. I am missing Metros 30mb download though. With a bit of patience youll be fine. By the way...I have a Nexus 5 also.

Did you tether? Just curious how you would miss the 30mb downloads??

Not saying you don't lol, I am just curious what people use higher speed mobile downloads for as I honestly can't tell the difference from my old carriers that did offer 20+ download speeds..

I assume tethering but my tethering is limited to just watching videos on my Kindle so I still don't notice speed issues

Very easy, I just went to a local Cricket store and paid for the new SIM and it took about 4 hours before I started receiving calls and that was it. Because I brought my Verizon phone, The APN settings needed to be adjusted manually, but that was a piece of cake. The store has all of the information to make this work. I disabled all of the Verizon Apps. I do get a warning that my phone does not have Verizon sim in the notification section, but you can shut it down until reboot.

I am going to call Cricket CS now for a reset. See if things speed up any. I am not slooow, but not instantanious like Metro was. If I stay away from Speedtest I would probably be great. Just knowing and seeing the difference messes with my head.
Did this help? I normally find it does

If it doesn't help download the ATT mark the spot app and mark your location to see if ATT is having network issues or congestion in that area.. The app is in apple app store or google play

Glad it worked for u!! I learned about these network resets years ago when I had Verizon.. They really help when for whatever reason your data becomes slow..

With Verizon I had to call in though, with cricket you can just chat via the my cricket app and they will tell you to turn your phone off for a specific amount of time and they will reset you when you close the chat. Much easier

Hopefully it'll stick!
