How can I backup my applications so I could reinstall just one app later?

Ok, I've been trying to find a good car navigation app. I finally found one. It's called Garmin Viago. I downloaded it. It worked great. Being Garmin, of course I could trust it would stick around for a while. I bought a lifetime license for like $50. About 6 months later, something happened and I lost the app. I went to download it from the app store again and it turns out it's not available anymore. So my lifetime license I just bought 6 months ago is useless because I can't download it anymore.

So, I just bought another lifetime license from another vendor in the app store. I know the lifetime license is going to be lucky to last a year. Most likely 6 months will be lucky. How can I backup these apps so 6 months later when something happens again and I loose the app but want it again, I can download it when it's not in the app store anymore. I paid for a lifetime license. It should last at least as long as my phone does.
