Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

A cover of Blue Monday - New Order, sung in Mandarin. Hearing it everywhere at the moment, and it's terrible.
mikedt, have you ever heard of a company called Fast Tech? They took my order for an eLeaf iStick vaping mod power system for my vaping of eliquid. I used to be a cigarette smoker three years ago. and switched to vaping as it is much healthier, and, less expensive. I vape 24 mg eliquid, through a sub ohm tank system made by a Chinese company called KangerTech, and it is very satisfying for a guy who's still addicted to nicotine.

The suspension of the eliquid is comprised of food-grade propylene glycol, and food-grade glycerin, mixed with nicotine. The sub ohm tank uses organic-grade cotton embedded coils to take electric power from a power supply that is referred to by vapists like myself as a mod, since the power supply supplies more power than the 3.7 volt powered ecigarettes, and, MUCH more vapor.

The mod I ordered was made in China, and, it shipped from Singapore via Singapore Post. I have a tracking number for this registered shipment, and they say that the arrival of the shipment can happen anywhere between 6-20 days.

Have you ever had any experience with Singapore Post, and was it a good one? The company even sent me a picture of the package, and the shipping address here in the USA was clearly legible, with bar codes and everything. If you have any experience with Singapore post, please share it here, or in a conversation if you prefer - since you reside out there in that area of the world, you would probably have much more experience in dealing with shipping from places like Singapore. My rant, as of right now? Waiting, and having to vape off of a 3.7 volt system, with 1.5 ohm removable coils.

Thanks, mikedt - LW

LW, let me try something....

https://www.fasttech.com/

Ok, apparently the site is not censored by AF, :) unlike certain other Chinese sales sites.

They're an internet sales company in Hong Kong. This is one of those where we do not recommend you go buying cheap Android devices from them. I don't know much about e-cigarettes at all, but is one of those things that they sell, and might be cheaper than buying them from your local pharmacy. Quality wise I don't know at all with these, is there such a thing as off-brand vaping and any possible risks with them? I know all about off-brand 'droids though.... :D

I've never had any experience of Singapore post, but I was via Singapore last year, HK to UK.

BTW I know about cheap Gillette Mach 3s that are blunt out of the packet, and the ten yuan (CNY) Marlboros that can give people a very bad cough.

To you good sir, I do you nice gold Rolex, only $50 US dollars. Gucci handbag for the wife sir?...only $30 US dollars.

I would argue that vaping is little safer than smoking-- sure you have fewer particulates and no tar-- however, food safe or not, propylene glycol and glycerine are not substances the human body was designed to ingest in quantity, and the effects of breathing large quantities of such into the lungs are unknown.

My $0.02

My rant for this morning is that I need to either refurbish or replace my laser printer... it has done well for the past six years, and the only two components I have not replaced will put me back a couple hundred (and I would have to disassemble the printer to install them. Alternatively, I could spend twice as much to replace the entire machine.

Either way, it's a lot of money.

People who are constantly unhappy and miserable!!
Drives me nuts when people are so miserable that they want to drag everyone else down with them......
Shit happens! Move on and get over it!

If they are just whining about things they can change - you are right..
There is medication that can cause these changes - in that case, maybe you should let them know about the change.

We saw an older gentleman whose doctor had just changed his meds and he wound up parking his van in front of our office and hallucinating about a gang kidnapping his wife. 911 finally dealt with him.

mikedt, thanks for the heads up re Fast Tech and Android.

I was just curious about Singapore Post, and their shipping practices.

When vaporized, propylene glycol and glycerin are reduced to smaller amounts, the main component being water vapor. I'd rather vape these, than tobacco products any day - as long as the eliquid is made in the USA, UK or Germany.

No thanks to the 'Gucci' handbag, and $50 Rolex
knock offs... :)

The weather has been one low pressure system, until now. My back is no longer in abject agony. Stars shining brightly in the sky, though, the temperature has come down a bit.

I'm getting ready to finish the MIDI tunes I've been working on. The back pain temporarily put things on hold.

May 1, at 12:15 in Chapel Hill, NC... colonoscopy. Wish me luck. I've been through this before, but, they're going to be bit more aggressive this time.

Damn it.

Having an irritable bowel, along with my myriad health issues, is a PITA. :)

Bearsyszf, thank you for the mention. It is a PITA, no doubt, and they are going prospecting this time - as my late father died from cancer, and he had it in spades in his lower large intestine and colon.

Have you heard about the recent studies of using Polio to cure cancer? Dr. Jonas Salk is either thrilled in his afterlife, or rolling in his grave... LW

The IBS is no joke either coming from someone who had Hemmrhoid surgery , neither one of those make it any more pleasant .

Maintenance supervisor: I need you to drive three and a half hours to this airport to help this other airport's mechanics do this check.

Me: why do they need me?
MX Sup: because we have the special tool, and it may be a wiring problem.
Me: ... okay.

So I pack up the tools, my work partner decides to go with me, just in case, and our supervisor actually agrees. The MX Sup couldn't send mechanics with us becaus he is short four mechs today.

We get to the airport, and none of our points of contact work. Takes us an hour and a half to get our visitor's badge to get on-base, only to find out that we need a special visitor's tag for the truck.

Twenty minutes later...

We call the other airport to see where their machanic is, and they say no one is going. "We were told you guys were handling it."

I am an avionics tech, not a mechanic. I am neither trained, nor authorized to operate an aircraft. I can't sign off non-avionic things, and this aircraft system is definitely not avionic.

So, an hour of yelling, screaming, wailing and gnashing of teeth later; finally get a guy on the road.

It is now two hours later, and the guy is in town... only time will tell how long it takes him to get on the airport and the plane.

It's a beautiful 74 degrees so I thought I'd have dinner on my balcony. From my balcony, I hear someone's TV (from a few apts away, a floor below me); bass thumps from another apt; a couple chatting on their balcony several apts away; & I smell a weird odor (it reminds me of an old lady perfume smell, but my grandma used to smell a lot nicer) that I remember having to put up with last year whenever it was nice out. There's a lot to like about apartment living, but this is slightly annoying since I hardly ever use my balcony.

As an apartment dweller myself, I'd call that a bit of an understatement. But that's me.

Anyone who suffers from IBS, Crohn's, or ulcerative colitis... I send good vibes, and wish all of you happy, productive lives.

My only worry resides within a genome - while most of my family on both sides had strong coronary systems, many of them died of cancer - whether it was kidneys, brain, lung, or intestinal. I've already been through it, and it was caught early.

My rant is for my lady's late daughter - she had brain cancer that started in the lungs, and she died last year at 32 years of age from complications. What angers me are the television commercials that laud the new, genetic types of treatments, as well as the recent Polio study in its ability to fight cancer.

These institutes are expensive, which means that people with regular insurance - or, Medicare and Medicaid - cannot qualify for these newer treatments.

That, my friends, is a rant from the heart. LW

Waiting for nothing to happen.

We identified the fault, don't have the equipment to replace the part (not really my job to do so)... Just send us home and get a fresh team out here!

While I like getting paid overtime, I also enjoy my own bed. I've been on-shift for eighteen hours now, and I have a three hour drive home to look forward to.

Copy watch, copy watch, fine handbags, new suit sir, hashish, beautiful girls.
According to Singapore Post, I have already received the 'Smartpac' that was shipped to my mailing address here in the United States. I have a new inquiry ticket submitted to FastTech and Singapore Post.

Since this is my first experience in dealing with an Asian distribution company directly, as well as an Asian shipping concern - mikedt, if you have any advice for this clueless American, I'm all ears (eyes). Hell, I wasn't even buying knockoff handbags, or watches (chortle)...

Since I haven't smoked any hash (or drank any kind of alcoholic beverage) in years, that's one federal or international bullet that I'm grateful to have dodged.

However, I'm new to this. I even got the FastTech Android app in this smartphone, in order to make checking the status and shipping a breeze... but, it seems that there's a disconnect point information-wise when it comes to shipping from Asia - at least, with Singapore Post, anyway.

I await their response to my latest inquiry.

All of this had to happen, because all of the American retailers were out of stock on this vaping power mod, and my lady wanted to get it for me straightaway, and save $35 US dollars. My
early-morning rant. Anyone with experience in this (mikedt?) jump in. Peace & Love - LW
